Why were there so many crimes tonight?
"This is already the eighth one…"
Daredevil leaned against the cold brick wall, his breathing uneven and heavy. Sweat mixed with blood as it soaked into his suit, his body pushed far beyond its limits. Every muscle screamed in protest, every movement felt delayed, sluggish, drained.
But he didn't stop.
He couldn't stop.
No matter how exhausted he was, people still needed saving. That was the line he refused to cross, no matter the cost.
He forced himself to peek out from the corner—
"Swoosh—!"
Gunfire erupted instantly.
Three… no, four figures popped up under the cover of darkness, their weapons already aimed. They didn't hesitate. Bullets and grenades tore through the air in a chaotic storm.
"Red suit, demon-looking guy—that's him!"
"Don't let him escape!"
"He's worth a million dollars!"
The bounty had turned him into prey.
And tonight, every predator in the city was hunting.
Daredevil reacted on instinct, his heightened senses mapping out trajectories, angles, and timing in an instant. But fatigue dulled everything. His reaction speed wasn't what it should have been.
He twisted, narrowly avoiding a shot aimed at his head—
—but another bullet tore through his side.
"Ugh—!"
He hit the ground hard, the impact knocking the air out of his lungs. Pain exploded through his waist, blood spilling freely as his strength slipped further.
"Hurry up! I hit him!"
The thugs shouted excitedly, rushing forward. Their footsteps grew louder, more frantic, echoing across the rooftop as they closed the distance.
Closer.
Closer.
Daredevil gritted his teeth, forcing himself up. His baton slid into his hand, his senses stretching outward despite the pain. The world around him took shape in his mind—a three-dimensional map built from sound, vibration, and instinct.
He was ready.
Even like this, he would fight.
"Whoosh—!"
Something cut through the air.
Fast.
Too fast.
Before Daredevil could react, a blur moved between him and the attackers.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Three sharp impacts rang out in rapid succession.
Silence followed.
When Daredevil focused again, the three thugs were already down, their bodies sprawled across the rooftop.
Unconscious.
Or worse.
"…I didn't even need to move?" Daredevil muttered, frowning slightly.
He couldn't identify the figure immediately. Whoever it was, their movements were precise, controlled, and unbelievably efficient.
And strong.
Very strong.
"Tap… tap… tap…"
Footsteps approached.
Steady.
Unhurried.
The unknown figure stopped right in front of him.
Before Daredevil could speak, a hand extended toward him.
"It's an honor to meet you… Attorney Matt."
Daredevil froze.
His identity had never been public. Not once. No one outside a very small circle should have known.
So how did this person—
"I know you've got questions," the man continued casually. "But we need somewhere safer to talk."
The voice was calm, almost friendly.
Too friendly.
Daredevil hesitated for a fraction of a second before nodding. "Fine. But you'll have to keep up."
He pushed himself forward, ignoring the pain, using his baton to launch himself across to the neighboring building. His body moved through practiced motions, swinging and gliding with precision.
Blood dripped behind him.
But he didn't slow down.
He didn't trust this stranger.
Not yet.
Behind him, Donnie watched with mild curiosity, his head tilting slightly.
That… wasn't very fast.
And it relied heavily on technique.
For a distance that short, a simple leap would've been enough. Why go through all that effort?
Was this some kind of test?
Donnie clapped his hands together lightly, nodding to himself.
"Yeah… definitely a test."
The next moment, his body blurred.
Wind gathered beneath his feet, lifting him effortlessly as he shot forward like a streak of light. The air itself seemed to carry him, currents bending to his will.
Mastering Wind Release had changed everything.
He didn't just move through the wind anymore.
He moved with it.
Competing with Daredevil using this?
It almost felt unfair.
—
"Did I lose him…?"
Daredevil landed on the rooftop, turning his head slightly as he listened. For a brief moment, there was nothing.
Then—
A presence.
Right in front of him.
His senses reconstructed the figure instantly, forming a clear image in his mind.
A massive… turtle.
Daredevil stiffened.
"How… did you catch up to me?" he asked, genuine surprise breaking through his usual composure.
Even Spider-Man had struggled to keep up with him once.
"This?" Donnie pointed casually at his feet.
He wasn't standing.
He was floating.
"It's simple. I can fly."
"…You can what?"
Daredevil's expression shifted, disbelief creeping in.
"This was taught to me by someone," Donnie added. "If they take a liking to you, you could learn it too."
Daredevil paused.
In his experience, abilities like flight were almost always tied to mutations—something innate, something you were born with.
Learned?
That idea alone was absurd.
Donnie waved it off. "Anyway, you're in bad shape. Stop pushing yourself. You need treatment."
Daredevil exhaled slowly, his guard lowering just a fraction. "I don't go to hospitals. I know someone… a nurse. Claire—"
He didn't finish.
Suddenly, his body lifted off the ground.
"What—?!"
Wind surged around him, lifting him into the air at incredible speed. It felt like being carried by a storm, the force steady yet overwhelming.
"You're too slow," Donnie said simply. "And you're losing too much blood. I'll get you there faster."
The city blurred beneath them as they flew.
Daredevil's face paled.
"This speed…"
—
Two days later.
Milcom Industries.
Inside a secured development chamber, the air buzzed with anticipation.
Dr. Otto stood at the center, his mechanical arms extending outward. Four newly upgraded appendages gleamed under the light, their design sleeker, more refined, and far more dangerous.
With a simple motion, one of the arms lashed out.
"Slice—!"
A massive iron block split cleanly in two.
The cut was flawless.
Smooth.
Precise.
No resistance.
"I've completed a full upgrade," Dr. Otto explained, his voice steady but filled with quiet pride. "The materials have been enhanced, and I've integrated multiple weapon systems. It's no longer just a tool—it's a complete platform."
The mechanical arms moved fluidly behind him, responding as if they were extensions of his own body.
"Even working alone, I can now construct a tritium reactor."
He paused, letting that sink in.
"Once it's operational, energy will no longer be a limitation for us."
At those words, Li Xuan began to clap.
"Dr. Otto," he said with a faint smile, "you're going to be a hero."
Otto shook his head immediately, almost reflexively. "Being able to support you is already more than enough."
There was no hesitation in his tone.
Only conviction.
Ever since witnessing Li Xuan's overwhelming power, Otto had completely shifted his perspective. To him, this wasn't just leadership—it was guidance. Direction. Something worth following without question.
"Then let's proceed," Li Xuan said calmly. "The reactor is in your hands."
"Ssshhh—!"
The mechanical arms began moving rapidly, tools activating as they prepared for construction.
"Two hours," Otto replied confidently. "Give me two hours, and it'll be ready."
