Chapter 61 - Chapter 61 – A Deal with the Devil

Johnny Blaze's face kept twitching.

Despite his visible distress, Ethan Voss successfully obtained the San Venganza Contract.

The old Ghost Rider, Carter Slade, had initially intended to resist.

But after watching Ethan casually grind a thick glass bottle into powder with a flick of his fingers, the old knight immediately realized something.

With his remaining strength, resistance was pointless.

Meanwhile, the new Ghost Rider—the man Carter had hoped would defend the contract—had completely collapsed emotionally.

Johnny sat nearby with a hollow expression.

Forget it.

Everything is meaningless.

Destroy it all.

I'm tired.

The sun slowly sank below the horizon.

Darkness spread across the cemetery.

All irrelevant people had already been cleared from the area.

Only two figures remained at the cemetery gate.

Ethan Voss.

And the flaming skeleton known as Ghost Rider.

They sat calmly at a small tea table, quietly waiting.

Ethan nudged Johnny with his elbow.

"By the way," he said casually, "when you transform later… try not to glare at me."

Johnny tilted his skull slightly.

"What?"

Ethan shrugged.

"Sometimes I get blood on my hands while protecting justice."

"That's normal, right?"

In truth, Ethan was being cautious.

The Ghost Rider's Penance Stare was essentially a rule-based ultimate ability.

He had never tested whether his telekinetic barrier could block that kind of supernatural attack.

After all…

His body still contained a real soul.

Just in case, Ethan silently decided something.

If things went badly…

He would simply close his eyes.

Soon the sky turned completely dark.

Three figures finally appeared at the cemetery entrance.

Blackheart.

Along with his two servants: the Wind Demon and the Water Demon.

When Blackheart arrived, the scene before him was bizarre.

A human.

And a flaming skeleton.

Sitting peacefully together.

Drinking tea.

Even stranger…

The San Venganza Contract lay openly on the table.

When Ethan saw him, he casually picked up the parchment and waved it in the air.

"Come on, little devil."

"Let me see your strength."

"If you can take it from me…"

"…it's yours."

Blackheart's pale face tightened.

Heavy dark circles surrounded his eyes as suspicion filled his expression.

This was obviously a trap.

And very possibly one arranged by his dear father—Mephisto.

Ethan extended his hand as if offering the contract directly.

Blackheart hesitated.

Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"Seriously?"

"You don't even dare to try?"

"With courage like that… you think you can challenge your father?"

"Who gave you the confidence?"

Blackheart remained cautious.

But then he glanced up.

He saw Ethan's eyes.

They were filled with mockery.

The exact same contempt his father used whenever he spoke to him.

That humiliation ignited something inside him.

Blackheart lunged forward.

And immediately stopped.

A transparent wall of psychic force surrounded Ethan's body.

It was perfectly solid.

An impenetrable fortress.

Even a high-ranking demon lord would struggle to break it.

Blackheart froze.

For a moment he felt both furious and depressed.

Furious because he couldn't seize the contract.

Depressed because he couldn't seize the contract.

This human… was terrifying.

Meanwhile Ethan relaxed slightly.

Good.

If the Witchheart Demon couldn't break through his telekinetic defense, then everything was under control.

Honestly, Ethan had expected more from Hell's demons.

But they weren't particularly impressive.

Seeing Blackheart's miserable expression, Ethan decided to cheer him up.

"Don't be discouraged," he said kindly.

"You're actually quite strong."

"You may not beat me… but you absolutely destroyed the Ghost Rider beside me."

He gestured toward Johnny.

"Look at him."

"He's practically traumatized."

"That's impressive."

The flames on Johnny's skull flared violently.

Blue smoke rose into the air.

Pure rage.

Ethan continued smiling.

"To prove my sincerity… how about this?"

"I'll give you the contract."

Blackheart's eyes widened.

His eyelids twitched.

His jaw hung open.

He stood frozen.

Even the two demons behind him looked confused.

Johnny Blaze's flaming skull trembled with disbelief.

After several seconds Blackheart finally spoke.

"You… want to give it to me?"

Ethan shook his head.

"Not give."

"A trade."

"You give me something in exchange."

Blackheart hesitated again.

Everything about this situation felt like a trap.

But the contract lay directly in front of him.

Without it, he could never oppose his father.

Without it, he would be forced to hide in the human world forever like a hunted animal.

To trade or not to trade.

That was the question.

Ethan rubbed his forehead.

Watching the demon hesitate again gave him a headache.

Are you really Mephisto's son?

He seriously wanted to discipline this kid on behalf of Hell.

"What is wrong with you?" Ethan snapped.

"You're a demon!"

"And you're afraid to make a deal with a human?"

"Did we accidentally swap identities here?"

Those words finally triggered something in Blackheart.

Right.

Demons don't fear contracts.

Humans do.

He clenched his teeth.

"Fine."

"I'll make a deal."

"What do you want?"

Ethan smiled warmly.

"Very simple."

"I want twenty different kinds of demons."

He glanced behind Blackheart.

"For example…"

"The Wind Demon."

"The Water Demon."

"Those two will work nicely."

"You can give them to me as a deposit."

"Bring the rest later."

"Once the full payment arrives, the contract is yours."

The two demons standing behind Blackheart froze.

"…Us?"

What?

Why?

We're not succubi!

What could a human possibly want with us?

Then they noticed the expression on Blackheart's face.

Their fate was sealed.

Blackheart didn't hesitate.

Hellish magic erupted from his body and bound the two demons instantly.

Ethan smiled happily.

With a wave of his hand, a swirling portal appeared.

The Wind Demon and Water Demon vanished inside it.

Transported directly into Ethan's Divine Kingdom.

Blackheart's heart skipped a beat.

What kind of ability was that?

Were they dead?

Eaten?

Humans are terrifying.

I want to go back to Hell.

Ethan produced another document.

"Let's sign a contract."

He spoke with perfect seriousness.

"I always operate according to the rules."

"A written agreement protects both sides."

"If I violate the deal…"

"You can sue me in New York."

Blackheart stared at him silently.

Then he gritted his teeth and signed the contract.

Without another word he disappeared into the darkness.

There were many demons hiding in the world.

Finding twenty of them would not be easy.

But it wasn't impossible either.

Once Blackheart left, Carter Slade slowly stepped out from behind the gravestones.

Clearly he had been listening.

"You're really making deals with demons?" the old knight asked.

Ethan examined the San Venganza Contract curiously.

"Old man," he said casually, "what exactly is special about this thing?"

"Why does even the Lord of Hell want it so badly?"

Carter Slade hesitated.

Then remained silent.

Ethan sighed dramatically.

"Look."

"You can't beat me."

"You can't take it back."

"And you refuse to explain."

"What exactly am I supposed to do here?"

The old knight rolled his eyes.

If I could beat you, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Finally he sat down beside Ethan.

"You probably know that the contract can control the thousand evil spirits of San Venganza."

"But what you don't know…"

Carter's voice grew heavier.

"…is that those weren't ordinary souls."

"They were a thousand spirits personally cultivated by Mephisto himself."

"Each one of them was a…"
