Chapter 164 - Chapter 164 The Lonely Thunder

In mere breaths, Natsu's three-man reinforcements had all been wounded.

Though none of the injuries were fatal, the overwhelming speed, power, and combat instincts Laxus displayed sent a chill through every onlooker.

With only one rebel left, Laxus used that lonely thunder to show everyone exactly how terrifying his strength had become.

"He's just too strong…"

Lucy, watching from the second floor, murmured, "All four of them can't even hold him down…"

Makarov's brows were locked tight; he knew Laxus had long possessed the magic power of the Ten Wizard Saints, yet never imagined his rebellious grandson had grown to this level.

No wonder he dared challenge the guild. If the master himself didn't act, probably only that kid Hope could stop him now.

But that kid… Makarov glanced at Hope outside the gate, wholly absorbed in studying a Jutsu, seemingly unworried about the Fairy Four's defeat—could Erza still have a hidden ace?

Laxus hovered in mid-air, lightning serpents dancing wildly around him.

Yet having just counter-attacked Natsu's trio in rapid succession had taxed him; his breathing was ragged, though his aura still loomed overhead, crushing.

"What's wrong? Is the so-called 'Fairy Four' only this good, or was Hope just boasting?"

"You bastard, don't look down on us!"

The thick-skinned Natsu stood, shaking off the lightning's numbness. "We're just one man short; with a temp like Gray dragging us down, how can we win?"

"What nonsense are you spouting?"

Natsu spread his hands innocently. "Erza, Gajeel, and I are all Dragon Slayer Mages—guess who isn't? So hard to tell."

Gray instantly went red-hot.

So what if he's an Ice-Make Mage?!

Did he steal Natsu's rice or something?!

Shaking with rage, he wondered when Ice-Make Mages would finally rise… yet he knew Natsu was right—even Laxus opposite them was a Dragon Slayer.

As one of the three great slaying styles famed for lethality, Dragon Slayer Magic naturally surpasses ordinary spells; after all, it was born to fight dragons.

Erza ignored the bickering and spoke to Laxus one last time. "Stop. There's still room to turn back; don't force my hand."

"Stop? Hilarious!"

Laxus laughed wildly. "You and Hope are the same—clearly unable to stop me, yet you preach like you're righteous."

"The title of Fairy Tail's strongest will be decided right here, right now!"

Erza saw Laxus wouldn't turn back; she had no choice but to use a trump card that should never be used on a comrade.

Drawing a deep breath, she pulled a guard-less grey longsword from her Armor circle.

At the sight of that plain blade, Laxus, Natsu, and Gajeel widened their eyes; a familiar power stirred within it—the presence of a dragon.

Erza's greatest ace had never been 'Armor' or 'Holy Dragon Slaying'.

It was the seven Dragon Slayer weapons—'seven extermination dragons'—forged by Wise Dragon Belserion's Thought Projection over centuries from the hearts of seven mighty evil dragons.

The 'seven extermination dragons' are half a Dragon Slayer Mage without will; in the right hands they become the most terrifying blades alive.

Having subdued the lingering malice of the Gravity Dragon, Erza fully mastered the giant gate sword that could alter its weight at will; with it she could even defeat former Ten Wizard Saint Jose.

But the gravity attacks covered too wide an area for use inside the guild.

So she chose the second weapon she had recently tamed: a blade fused with the heart of the Edge Dragon, the purest destructor among the seven.

The Breaker of Armies that could cut through anything.

Without another word, Erza slashed at Laxus.

Under the grey blade-light Laxus' expression changed; for the first time he felt threatened. Golden lightning flowed like liquid over his skin, roaring deafeningly.

"Thunder Dragon's Jaw!"

The blow's might dwarfed every previous one; the entire guild hall groaned, window glass bursting.

Yet when his lightning-wrapped fists met Erza's Breaker of Armies, only a sharp grey flash cut across.

With a sound like shattering glass, Laxus' spell was split apart.

Seeing the unstoppable blade falling, Laxus hastily cloaked himself in dense lightning Armor.

But like the spell before, the lightning defense tore like paper, leaving a shallow gash across him.

"What?!"

Watching the stunned Laxus, Erza said nothing; the Breaker of Armies could cut anything, yet it devoured magic and stamina in huge amounts.

Great power always demands its price.

Laxus was no fool; Erza had to beat him before he adapted—and before her own strength ran dry.

A storm of precise slashes left Laxus no room to resist; every counter-spell ended in fresh cuts.

Erza held back; none of the wounds were lethal, but their accumulation wore even Laxus' mighty body down.

Bang!

With the final slash it was Erza—her magic and stamina spent—who collapsed.

Laxus knelt on one knee, gasping; his long-trained body had outlasted hers. "You surprised me, Erza."

"But in the end, I win!"

Thanks to Erza's restraint, Laxus had ground out victory despite being out-gunned on info.

Yet he felt no joy: Natsu, Gray, and Gajeel still eyed him like wolves, and his bleeding body could not survive another three-way pounding.

Still, Laxus would never admit defeat.

He had one last card—a killing stroke that could end everything.

"You three, plus Erza, and that bastard Hope…"

"Old man, everyone in the guild, all the folk of Magnolia…"

"Vanish!!"

Laxus staggered upright, unfathomable magic rising within him; the golden flash between his hands made Makarov on the second floor blanch.

It was Fairy Tail's ultimate psychic deterrent—able to strike every enemy its caster names at once.

'Fairy Law'!
