Cherreads

Chapter 11 - -Reaction

Elsewhere...

The spectators were looking at each type of round. The one that was the most looked at was of course the hidden quest one. The commentator hyped it up to be an impossible round and a blood bath. It was for the fans of gore. Heads were getting crushed and punches were flying everywhere.

There were thousands of death every second. Millions of spectators were looking at one participant in particular. That participant was close to death as he was in front of the hunting dog. The spectators were sure of his death as he almost got knocked out.

"The knife! The knife!", a smart spectator screamed. It was as if David listened as he managed to kill his chaser. Everyone screamed in the spectators stand.

"He did it!"

One in a million was what they were calling him. A logical and deserved name. The use of the body and the special metal was genius as it blocked the axe for a bit. A genius they all thought. They were all waiting for the second round that happened two days after. They started rooting for him. His underdog story reminded them of their own.

Most of them were legends in their realm that died for a reason or another. While the living legends that watched this protagonist was watching to lose their boredom. One of the strongest living beings even had the chance to talk with the winner of the hidden test as a sort of king of the round.

I woke up in the same dark space with notifications buzzing infront of me.

The window waited for David's response. He chose strength with conviction. He promised myself that he would never be this close to death ever again. It was a needed promise to give him relief honestly. He pushed away the memories of the murder he just did by wondering about his new strength and the result of leveling up.

"Status", I whispered.

David chose to put his 2 stat points in agility touching his broken jaw over and over. The stars and circles appeared and he prepared myself for the teleportation.

He ended back in the city's center. He felt brand new. His jaw was back in its place. The teleportation was also a healing spell. "Good to know.",he thought. He searched for Jim for quitesome time until he saw him talking to Anna on a bench. David walked to them and greeted them with a fake smile. Jim ran at David and hugged him the moment he saw him. David was a bit shocked, but he put his hands around him too. He felt happy to see him alive too.

"I knew you wouldn't die so easily, but you never know with idiots.", he said.

David didn't take the time to respond and immediately asked about their first round as he was genuinly curious to see the difference in difficulty. The stamina test was a breeze compared to his. They had to walk through a desert with nothing except their respective object and their will. When it was David's turn to tell his experience, he told them that he had a duel and that was about it, they believed him.

They wouldn't be able to refute him anyways as the ones that could were long gone.

They then went to Anna's store and watched the news. She inherited the store when her father died. He passed away last year. Their discussion gave enough time for all the tests to be known to the government. The strength test was about changing someone doing an obstacle course and catching them with a metal ball attached to their arms. The easiest test. David knew why.

For the stamina test, it was the one with the most death as almost everybody challenged it, they had to cross a desert with only their courage. The stamina test made over 200 million death. The other two tests were normal and mildly difficult.
