A full week of uninterrupted effort and unwavering discipline had completely transformed the landscape of the private training ground.

What at the beginning of the week had been a crude, misshapen, and cracked wall barely a meter high had now turned into a series of perfect, dense, and polished pillars that Gaara raised and deconstructed with remarkable control.

The young boy's progress in shaping the Earth Element (Doton) was not merely fast; it was alarming to anyone who understood the natural learning timeline of an average shinobi.

Daigo observed the little boy from the edge of a stone platform, nodding slowly with a mix of deep admiration and contained awe. His arms remained crossed over his chest while his analytical eyes scanned the child's posture, the fluidity with which he channeled energy into the sand, and the speed at which the grains responded, compressing until they reached the hardness of solid granite.

Daigo couldn't help but let his mind wander into the depths of his past life's memories, recalling the original canon of the story he knew so well.

He remembered how Gaara, despite being so dangerously young and unstable, had eventually become the village's Kazekage in the original work.

"It's clear that in the original timeline, having the Shukaku's chakra inside him was a massive part of his political and military rise," Daigo thought to himself, narrowing his eyes slightly as he watched the subtle movements of the redhead.

"The terror he instilled and the beast's immense energy reserves were brutal tools. But watching him train here, completely stripped of that chaotic madness and the corrupting influence of the sand spirit, proves to me that the Shukaku wasn't everything. Gaara possesses an innate genius a spiritual affinity with the earth that borders on the absurd. His mind is precisely structured for calculating density and managing sand. He was born for this."

Gaara abruptly stopped his chakra flow. With a soft sigh, he relaxed his shoulders and extended his right palm upward, causing the final pillar of compacted stone to crumble cleanly, returning to its original state in a silent shower of fine sand.

The boy raised his gaze toward his uncle, his large dark eyes shining with a contained expectation that he rarely allowed himself to show around others. He knew perfectly well that the one-week deadline Daigo had set was up that very morning, and he was eager, almost desperate, to take the next step on his ninja path.

"Your progress with pure density has been flawless, Gaara," Daigo announced, breaking the silence of the arena as he descended into the pit with calm, steady steps, raising a slight trail of dust in his wake.

"Any Earth or Sand master would tell you it's impossible for a child your age to master the molecular cohesion of earth in just seven days. You've proven you can force the sand to remember the firmness of rock with astounding ease. That is why today we are going to radically shift the direction of your training. Instead of doing what we've practiced and polished all week, I want you to try doing the exact opposite. I want you to try controlling the sand fluidly, keeping its dispersed nature, without turning it into stone at any point."

Gaara immediately tilted his head, visibly confused by the apparent paradox his uncle's words presented to his youthful logic.

"How am I supposed to do that, Uncle Daigo?" the little boy asked, extending his hands in front of him and staring blankly at his palms, as if searching his own hands for the answer.

"If I don't compact it, the sand just feels like dirty water slipping through my fingers the exact second I apply my chakra. If I don't force it toward the center, the grains won't hold together and I can't control them."

Daigo kept silent for a moment, maintaining a serene expression so as not to project his own doubts.

The raw truth was that he himself didn't have a 100% concrete, theoretical answer to give the child at that moment. Controlling loose particles through pure elemental chakra devoid of a kekkei genkai or an external mystical force was completely uncharted and hyper-complex territory, even for someone who had walked the path of creating Crystal Release.

"To be completely honest with you, Gaara, there is no exact formula or secret hand seal I can teach you to solve this," Daigo admitted, scratching the back of his neck with an honest smile meant to lighten the boy's growing tension.

"But what I can give you is a shift in your mental focus. Instead of visualizing the sand as a single massive block that you must crush from the outside to hold together, try thinking of every single invisible grain of sand as an independent stone a living entity on its own.

Try manipulating them one by one, infusing your own will and energy directly into the spaces separating them, guiding them instead of forcing them to stick."

Gaara processed the words with complete seriousness. He closed his eyes, internalized Daigo's conceptual metaphor, and with a renewed, intense spark of determination in his eyes, nodded firmly.

He adopted a wider stance in the exact center of the pit and extended both hands parallel to the sandy ground.

However, abstract theory proved infinitely easier to comprehend than to physically execute. Throughout the entire morning, under a sun that was beginning to heat the air beneath the glass dome, and through a brutal afternoon, Gaara tried once, ten times, a hundred times consecutively without stopping.

He channeled his Earth-natured chakra through his pathways, attempting to coat the grains of sand with his will to make them levitate fluidly and harmoniously, mimicking the movement of a river.

Yet the result was frustratingly always the same. If he released too much energy, the sand shot out chaotically in all directions, creating noisy bursts of useless dust that got into his eyes and stung his cheeks.

If he instead tried to soften the flow, his brain reacted out of sheer habit from the previous week, instantly compacting the sand back into small, solid pebbles that dropped to the ground with a dry thud.

He couldn't find a middle ground between the rigidity of rock and the dispersion of dust. Elemental fluidity slipped through his fingers like a ghost.

As the final hours of the afternoon arrived, the child's hands were trembling visibly not just from severe physical exhaustion and drained chakra reserves, but from a deep, bitter, and stinging frustration that clouded his gaze with a layer of helplessness, threatening to break his usual composure.

Daigo, who had been forced to leave for a few hours to handle urgent diplomatic and commercial matters at the Kazekage office, returned to the private training field just in time to witness the most critical moment of the boy's emotional breakdown.

Gaara, clenching his teeth with his eyes fixed on the ground, slammed his closed fist into the sand with all his strength, slumping his shoulders in defeat as his breathing grew ragged and heavy.

"That's enough for today, Gaara," Daigo said in a soft yet firm voice, breaking the dense, tense atmosphere of frustration filling the pit.

"I can't do it," Gaara whispered softly, stubbornly refusing to lift his head to look his uncle in the eye.

"I think about what you told me... I try to see every grain as a small stone, but the sand just won't listen to me. It has no order. It just blows off to the sides or hardens into plain stone. I can't control it fluidly like Arata does. I feel like I'm wasting time."

Daigo walked over slowly and squatted beside him, placing a warm, heavy hand on the boy's tense back to give him stability.

"Listen to me carefully, Gaara, and mark my words. What you are trying to do right now at your age is extremely difficult almost madness for any ordinary shinobi," Daigo explained in a calm voice filled with comforting maturity and respect.

"Your father controls gold dust using Magnet Release, a genetic kekkei genkai that automatically magnetizes your chakra, making it far easier to guide." Daigo explained a bit slower so Gaara could fully grasp it.

"But you aren't using magnetism. You are trying to create an entirely new way of wielding sand using pure earth chakra and the absolute strength of your own willpower. You are building a ninja path where there was previously nothing. It took me years of monumental failures, constant frustration, and dangerous mistakes to develop my Crystal Release. Years, Gaara. You cannot expect to master a technique that no one has achieved without a bloodline limit in a single afternoon. Don't be so hard on yourself."

Gaara listened intently to his uncle's words, feeling the cold weight of guilt, helplessness, and self-doubt lighten significantly in his chest.

The parallel to Daigo's Crystal Release gave him a realistic perspective on the level of difficulty he was facing. Fully understanding his teacher's point, the boy nodded slowly, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand and preparing to stand back up to try again, resolved deep within his heart not to let frustration win.

However, the heavy silence of the pit was suddenly interrupted by the distant echo of light, rapid footsteps approaching at full speed from the main entrance corridor.

"Daddy!"

Before Daigo could fully turn around on his knees, a small, familiar figure leaped with absolute enthusiasm straight onto his exposed back. Daigo reacted on pure instinct and trained reflexes; he leaned his torso forward to absorb the impact, wrapping his arms back to secure his grip while a broad, genuine smile spread across his face as he felt Sunae's thin but energetic arms wrap tightly around his neck.

Sunae adjusted herself expertly over her father's shoulder, poking her mischievous, lively face out to look straight down into the deep sand pit.

"What are you guys still doing here?" the girl asked, her eyes wide with insatiable curiosity that seemed to brighten the space.

"I'm helping Gaara with his new advanced training to learn how to control sand fluidly," Daigo answered with a calm smile, adjusting his daughter's weight with a gentle shift of his hips to make sure she wouldn't slip.

Sunae blinked a couple of times, shifting her full attention toward the redheaded boy, who stood in the middle of the pit staring back at her, looking slightly embarrassed with his cheeks faintly flushed from the unexpected interruption.

"Can you do it yet, Gaara? Is the sand flying through the air like Arata's?" Sunae asked with boundless excitement, swinging her bare legs hanging from Daigo's sides.

Gaara immediately averted his gaze toward the side of the pit, clenching his fists at his sides as he shook his head slowly and silently, feeling a wave of embarrassment return for a moment.

Seeing the clear sign of defeat, Sunae let out a short, clear, playful giggle, resting her chin comfortably on Daigo's shoulder.

"You're falling totally behind!" the girl teased in a lighthearted tone typical of her age.

"How are you supposed to protect me in the future if you end up less strong than me? You have to work twice as hard if you want to keep your word!"

Gaara lowered his head completely, fixing his eyes on the grains of sand covering his bare feet, feeling his cheeks burn beneath the twilight sun.

Sunae's words, though spoken with the lightness of childhood teasing, struck an extremely deep, sensitive, and sacred chord in his memory.

The little boy remembered perfectly that distant afternoon when, with a heart full of bashfulness and eyes on the verge of tears, he had made a silent promise to Sunae to become the strongest ninja so he could protect her, her family, and the village from any danger.

Daigo, meanwhile, glanced sideways at Gaara's solemn, determined expression and then at his daughter's playful grin, narrowing his eyes immediately.

His protective, jealous fatherly instincts ignited in the blink of an eye upon noticing the redhead's intense emotional reaction to the "future protection" comment.

"Hold on a second... since when did you two start making those kinds of promises behind my back?" Daigo asked in a suspiciously serious voice, lowering his tone and glaring with precise scrutiny at Gaara, as if assessing a dangerous enemy.

The Kazekage's suddenly protective, territorial aura caused Gaara to take an imperceptible step back into the sand, swallowing hard under his uncle's stare.

However, Daigo shook his head slightly to clear his exaggerated paternal jealousy, letting out a soft sigh as he accepted that this was bound to happen as Sunae grew up though hopefully not too soon.

Setting that aside, he turned to look over his shoulder at his daughter with a feigned sternness she knew all too well.

"And as for you, my little princess," Daigo continued in a firm tone, gently poking Sunae right in the center of her forehead with his index finger to interrupt her teasing.

"You still have a long way to go and a lot of sweat to shed before you can call yourself strong. You shouldn't underestimate Gaara in the slightest. I assure you that if he manages to crack the secret to this elemental control without relying on bloodlines, his power will leave you completely speechless sooner than you think."

Sunae, seeing her beloved father immediately take Gaara's side to defend his effort, puffed out her cheeks, crossed her tiny arms, and let out a long, exaggerated sigh of resignation, making a pout so adorable that Daigo was forced to soften his expression and smile.

Witnessing the family dynamic and sensing Daigo's unconditional backing, Gaara felt a wave of warmth and relief wash over his entire body.

Sunae's lively presence and Daigo's reassuring words had completely dispelled the cold bitterness of the frustration he had carried since morning, replacing it with a renewed confidence in his own abilities and a burning desire to prove what he was truly capable of.

Daigo gently grasped Sunae around her waist, lowering her down until her feet touched the firm ground, and then gave a subtle nod toward Gaara to signal him to continue.

The redheaded boy refocused instantly; he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and spent the next half-hour attempting to move the particles with his chakra.

Even though the practical results remained minimal the sand barely rose a few centimeters off the surface in tiny, trembling crests before collapsing back down the atmosphere inside the pit was no longer tense or frustrating. It was highly focused, competitive, and full of life.

Finally, as the first hues of dusk began to paint the massive glass dome of Sunagakure in shades of purple and orange, Daigo raised a hand to call an end to the hard day's work.

"That's enough for today, kids. Your bodies and chakra pathways need proper rest to process and absorb the learning in your brains," the Kazekage stated conclusively.

Sunae, who had been watching intently while sitting on the stone edge swinging her legs, immediately hopped down to the sand and trotted over to her father, gently pulling on the sleeve of his Kazekage robes.

"Daddy, can we invite Gaara to have dinner at our house tonight?" the girl asked, looking up with those pleading eyes she knew her father could never resist.

"Mom said she was going to cook a ton of delicious food because she got back from her weekly trade route, and she promised there would be enough food to feed an entire army."

Daigo looked into his little princess's bright eyes and, knowing full well that trying to refuse such a sweet request was a lost battle, smiled affectionately.

He turned toward the redheaded boy, who was watching the interaction timidly from the middle of the pit.

"What do you say, Gaara? Will you do us the honor of joining us for dinner tonight?" Daigo asked kindly.

Gaara gave a slight nod, a small, genuine smile forming on his lips for the first time all day.

"Yes, I'd really like that, Uncle Daigo... but could we stop by my house first? I'd like to change out of this training suit and get clean before sitting at the table," the boy asked politely, looking down at his clothes covered in rock dust and loose sand.

"Of course, no problem at all. Let's go," the Kazekage agreed calmly.

After a quick and efficient stop at Gaara's home so the boy could wash up, brush off the remaining dirt, and change into clean, comfortable clothes, the trio headed off at a relaxed pace toward Daigo's family residence.

As they crossed the front threshold, the rich, comforting aroma of home-cooked stews, baked bread, and traditional desert spices greeted them instantly, confirming that Pakura had gone all out in the kitchen for her family.

Dinner that night was no ordinary meal. This time, the table was set not just for Daigo, Pakura, and the children of the house; the extended family had gathered as well.

Grandfather Haru presided over one end of the long wooden table alongside Grandmother Ilsa, while Daiku and Kimimaro were already seated, waiting with chopsticks in hand.

The atmosphere surrounding the meal quickly transformed into a perfect haven of human warmth.

Between the noisy laughter and complaints of Daiku trying to swipe a piece of seasoned meat from Sunae's plate prompting the girl to fight back with her fork held high the long, incredible stories of ancient desert battles told by Haru and Daigo, the calm, mature observations from Kimimaro, and Pakura's constant, motherly attention making sure no one's plate was ever empty, dinner flowed with wonderful harmony.

Gaara, seated comfortably in a spot arranged between Daigo and Sunae, enjoyed his food in silence, simply listening attentively to the joyful chatter, inside jokes, and harmless banter of the family surrounding him.

As he looked at their genuine smiles, their faces illuminated by the warm light of the dining room, and felt the total acceptance of the people around him, the redheaded boy gently clenched his small fist beneath the wooden table, feeling an absolute resolution of iron solidify deep within his young heart.

It no longer mattered how many times he had to fail tomorrow in the sand pit, nor how many years it would take him to crack the secret of elemental sand fluidity. He was going to become the strongest, most disciplined, and most relentless shinobi of all for one single reason:

to protect with his very life this vibrant warmth, the prosperity of Sunagakure, and the wonderful family that had invited him to dinner and his own family.
