The news of Konoha's victory in the East did not only reach Sunagakure through civilian and ninja channels; it arrived like a blast of reality that shifted the village's political climate in a single heartbeat.

Daigo who had been busy stabilizing the village during a brief period of calm while the other nations were occupied, had to canceled some of the new things upon hearing the news.

Konoha had triumphed. The legendary unit of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist the military pride and the pillar of terror for Kirigakure had been dismantled in a single day of carnage.

A single man, a Konoha Genin named Might Dai, had opened the Eight Inner Gates, becoming a crimson beast of steam that slaughtered the Mist's elite.

With Kirigakure in retreat and its heroes reduced to ash, save for Mangetsu and Ringo, who fled the threat the board of the Third Great Ninja war had been dangerously simplified.

With the defeat of the Mist, Konoha could now afford to throw all its troops toward Sunagakure, the only village capable of seizing territory from them.

In the Kazekage's office, the atmosphere was so thick the air itself felt heavy. Pakura stood by the window, watching the dunes whipped by a capricious wind, while Sasori toyed with a small piece of wood in the corner, his hollow eyes reflecting an absolute lack of empathy for the situation.

News of Konoha's victory was already leaking through the tower hallways, leaving only one option: more war, where more lives would be lost.

"Orochimaru won't take long to move if he's as I think he is," Daigo said, breaking the silence, his hand on his jaw in a thinking stance.

Now that he had been named the Fourth Hokage, he had the support of the entire village to attack and reclaim that lost territory, even if it meant putting more blood on the board.

Daigo wasted no time. He immediately summoned an emergency meeting with the Council of Elders and the high military command.

The map room was filled with veterans who looked at their young leader with a mixture of hope and anticipation. They knew Kanzaki was in danger of being lost.

"The war against the Leaf has entered its most critical phase," Daigo declared, pointing to the tactical map showing Suna's new borders extending deep into the Land of Fire.

"Orochimaru will lead the offensive personally. We cannot allow them to set foot in Kanzaki or the fertile lands we have annexed. I have made the decision to lead the defense in person. We will not just wait; we will establish a defensive perimeter they cannot cross."

The Council murmured uneasily. It was risky for the Kazekage to go to the front so soon after his coronation, but Daigo's logic was impeccable: only a Kage could stand against another Kage, especially when that opponent was a Sannin. Furthermore, Daigo had the experience of fighting another Sannin before.

"Pakura, Sasori, Arata," Daigo called, looking at his closest allies. "Prepare yourselves, for you are coming with me along with an elite squad. We will not take the new clans; the Museifu, the Houki, and the Dokuhebi must remain hidden, growing in the shadows for the future of the village We let them grow.

We depart at dawn for the Kanzaki border with an army of three thousand shinobi."

The decision was made. Suna mobilized like a well-oiled machine that had finally found its purpose. Thousands of ninjas prepared their supplies, puppets were oiled and checked, and transport scrolls were loaded with rations and weapons. The entire village vibrated with the metallic ring of katanas and the hum of chakra.

Daigo, wearing his Kazekage cloak over his custom combat armor, walked toward the main entrance of the village, ready to lead his army toward what many believed would be the final battle of the century.

However, fate had other plans for that morning. Just as Suna's vanguard, led by Pakura, was about to cross the towering gates, a guard shouted a warning from the highest watchtowers.

On the horizon, where the sun was beginning to rise over the dunes, they didn't see the blue glint of Konoha headbands, but a constant silver reflection that did not belong to the desert.

A squad of twelve men advanced through the dunes with mechanical and heavy discipline. They didn't move like ninjas, jumping between dunes or using the terrain for cover; they advanced head-on, chests out, with a rhythmic stride.

They were Samurai from the Land of Iron. They wore full dark plate armor, carried tempered steel katanas at their waists, and marched behind a white banner with three black circles: the emblem of absolute neutrality.

The Suna army came to a dead halt. The ninjas looked at each other, confused.

Daigo, flanked by Pakura and Sasori, stepped forward to receive them at the village entrance.

The leader of the samurai squad, an older man with a stern gaze and a deep scar crossing his neck, stopped exactly ten meters from Daigo. He gave a rigid bow one that denoted respect for the office but not submission to ninja power.

"Lord Kazekage," the samurai said, his voice sounding like the clashing of two blades.

"I come on behalf of Lord Mifune, General of the Land of Iron's forces, and by mandate of the Great Kages of the nations in conflict."

The samurai pulled a scroll from a wooden box and handed it to Daigo. The paper was unusually thick, a quality seen only in royal documents, and bore five different colored wax seals representing the five great hidden villages, alongside the neutral lead seal of the Land of Iron in the center.

Daigo broke the seal with a fluid movement of his finger, momentarily transformed into a thin blade of crystal. His eyes scanned the words written in impeccable calligraphy, every stroke laden with a political weight that could crush nations.

"The Five Kage Summit..." Pakura whispered, reading over Daigo's shoulder,

her brow furrowing. "Now? Just when Konoha is ready to pounce on us?"

"That is correct," the samurai continued, unshaken. "Tsuchikage Ōnoki of the Land of Earth, Raikage Ay of the Land of Lightning, and Lord Mifune have called an emergency meeting on neutral ground.

The Third Great Ninja War has bled the world for far too long, exhausting resources and the lives of innocents alike. If you are concerned that Konoha will attack during the summit, I do not believe it will happen.

The Fourth Hokage, Orochimaru, has already confirmed his attendance to represent the interests of the Leaf. We only await Sunagakure's response for the summit to formally begin."

Daigo tucked the scroll into his robe as a smile appeared on his lips.

It was about time those two who had been eliminated from the board called for a summit; this is more of a political move than a pause in the war, Daigo thought while looking at the samurai.

Daigo looked at the samurai, who waited in silence, and then turned back to his army.

"Tell Lord Mifune that Sunagakure will be present for the summit," Daigo declared, projecting his voice so every soldier present could hear him.

The samurai nodded with a brief tilt of his head, performed another perfect bow, and turned away, returning with his squad toward the northern horizon, where the snowy mountains of the Land of Iron awaited after days of travel.

Daigo turned to Pakura and Sasori.

"Cancel the army's attack on the front. Have them stay further back from Kanzaki in position. If something happens I feel something, I don't know what it is, but we must be prepared. Arata, I need you to stay with Rasa and the army; you are the two I trust most," Daigo said.

"Ah, how boring! Seriously, Daigo? You're leaving me out of the action?" Arata said, drinking sake, only able to sigh under Daigo's gaze.

"Arata, if what I'm thinking happens, you'll have more action than I will. That's why I need you to stay in Kanzaki with Rasa. In case anything happens, you have permission to go all out though don't kill ninjas from our own village," Daigo said, looking toward the Land of Fire.

The Suna army, which minutes ago had been ready for combat, could only nod at the Kazekage's new orders.

They preferred waiting to see what would happen over heading straight into a fight; months of combat had left most ninjas exhausted.

The following hours were a whirlwind of activity. Daigo met with Rasa in his Kazekage office to tell him what was happening.

"A Kage Summit now? That's quite strange. Normally they don't hold them until the war is over; this time it's in the middle of it," Rasa said, confused.

"I thought the same. What do you think is the reason that even Konoha is going?" Daigo asked.

"I don't know, but Orochimaru wouldn't mind using this summit to launch a large-scale attack while you're busy," Rasa said.

"Exactly what I thought. That's why I need you to go to Kanzaki with Arata to defend against any attacks. No matter what happens, we cannot lose Kanzaki. If they take the rest, fine, but not Kanzaki. Understood?" Daigo exclaimed, looking seriously at Rasa.

"Understood, Kazekage-sama. I will ensure Kanzaki does not fall. Make sure you prepare yourself in case anything happens during the trip," Rasa replied.

"I will. I'm going with Pakura and Sasori, and I'll have two squads from both following from further back," Daigo replied.

"Sounds good. Good luck, Daigo."

As night fell, a small group gathered at the northern exit of Sunagakure. Daigo, Pakura, and Sasori were ready. Alongside them, three Anbu squads were also ready; although they knew the Kazekage, Pakura, and Sasori were strong, they didn't want them fighting an army alone.

Pakura wore a thick travel robe designed to withstand the drastic temperature change from the desert to the arctic climate of the Land of Iron.

Sasori, for his part, seemed indifferent to the weather; being inside his Hiruko puppet, he was safe from any climate.

Daigo wore his Kazekage hat and a heavy wool cloak, his mind already rehearsing every possible scenario and what he would have to say at the summit.

As they moved away from the village, Daigo looked back one last time. The lights of Suna shone like captive stars within the rock walls. He knew that when he returned, Suna would either be recognized as one of the dominant powers, or the war would resume with a fury that would leave nothing standing.

"What are you thinking about?" Pakura asked, pulling up beside him as they leaped over the crest of a dune.

"For once, nothing. I'm just enjoying the journey, Pakura-chan," Daigo replied. "It's my first time going to the Land of Iron, and I'd also like to speak with Mifune about doing business."

Sasori, who was moving a few meters ahead, spoke without turning around. "I'm interested as well. They have the strongest metal that responds to the purest chakra. I'd like to buy some for my puppets."

"Perfect. We'll look into that after the summit."

The group accelerated their pace, becoming three swift shadows crossing the desert under the light of the full moon. The journey north would be long.

They would cross disputed borders and neutral territories where bandits and rogue ninjas sought easy prey. But no one in their right mind would dare stand in the way of the Sunagakure delegation.

The air began to change as the days passed. The dry, familiar heat of the sand was replaced by the humidity of the central lands and, finally, by the biting, freezing air blowing down from the mountains.

The landscape transformed from orange and gold to deep greens and, finally, to a blinding white. They had arrived at the borders of the Land of Iron.

In the distance, the towers of the Samurai fortress rose like iron fangs against the gray sky. Smoke from chimneys rose in straight columns, and the sound of watch bells echoed through the snowy valleys. The Five Kage Summit was about to begin.

Daigo adjusted his hat, the brim shielding his eyes from the snowy wind. He could feel the chakra of other leaders approaching from different directions. He could feel the pressure of Ōnoki, the static electricity of Ay, and the complex, serpent-like aura of Orochimaru, along with another quite familiar presence that made Daigo click his tongue.

"It's time," Daigo said, his breath forming a white cloud in front of him. "Let's go in and hear what it is they want."
