Seven days had passed since the Great Battle of Kanzaki. It was the battle that shattered the balance of the villages, fueled by the shocking new might of Sunagakure.

The news had not merely traveled through the world; it had incinerated everything in its path. Konoha's messengers arrived at the capitals with pale faces and sunken eyes, while the spies of other nations could hardly believe what their own scrolls confirmed: Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, the "Professor," the God of Shinobi, had fallen in combat.

What was even more terrifying for the world was that Suna had been the one responsible for his death. It wasn't Iwagakure or Kumogakure, but Suna the village that usually stayed on the defensive that had delivered the killing blow.

In the Land of Lightning

"Damn it!" Ay roared, his voice booming over the sound of the thunder outside. "Are you telling me that while we were retreating from the war, a brat from Suna did what no one in this village could? Hiruzen Sarutobi is dead!"

Beside him, his adoptive brother and Jinchūriki, Killer Bee, wasn't rapping for once. His expression was unusually serious, noting the murderous pressure radiating from Ay.

"Brother, the news is heavy, the war has slowed. With the Third gone, maybe Iwa or Kirigakure will jump back into the flow. Konoha isn't at its best, yo," Bee muttered in a raspy whisper.

Ay struck his desk, splitting it into two exact pieces that flew toward the walls.

"It's not just that Hiruzen died! It's that Konoha has been humiliated! Minato Namikaze, the man who dared to rival me in speed, was put to shame. The Kyūbi Jinchūriki was defeated. And all because of a boy named Daigo!"

The Raikage walked to the window, staring toward the horizon where the Land of Fire lay.

"They call him The Rose Demon of the Sand. According to the information we've gathered, he has caused significant damage to Kiri, even killing Fuguki, which landed him in the Bingo Book. What makes this boy special is his Shōton bloodline," said Mabui, Ay's new secretary, as she placed a book on the table containing Daigo's photo and the Bingo Book entry.

Both Killer Bee and Ay leaned in to read, shocked by the feats he had accomplished at such a young age.

"This makes things complicated. If Suna has a monster capable of killing a kage like that, Kumo could be in danger. Luckily, we are far away from them," Killer Bee remarked.

Ay turned toward his commanders, his eyes sparking with static electricity. "Double the patrols on the borders of the smaller nations.

If that crystal demon shows his face outside of Suna, I want to be the first to know. I want to see if his crystal can withstand my Lariat at maximum power. The world just got more interesting with a new face on the board. Let's go, Killer Bee, we need to train!"

The two of them exited by smashing through the wall as if it were a door. As they left, Killer Bee returned to his usual mood and began to rap.

In the Land of Earth

In Iwagakure, the atmosphere was quite different. Ōnoki, the Third Tsuchikage, floated in absolute silence over his stone desk.

He didn't scream; he simply observed the reports on his desk regarding everything that had happened, surprised that Suna had enough power to defeat Konoha after having been forced to retreat from the land of earth no long ago.

"Hiruzen... you finally found the perfect way to die like a hero," Ōnoki whispered.

Although they were lifelong rivals, there was no joy in his voice, only icy caution. "This brat wasn't in the war when we fought Suna. They must have underestimated us, and that's why he didn't show up. Suna is more dangerous now than ever."

He looked at his commanders, men of stone waiting for his orders.

"Konoha is now a nest of vipers fighting for the throne. Danzō Shimura won't take long to try and purge the weak, but Suna is the real problem. They've gone from a village on the brink of bankruptcy to possessing the most lethal weapon on the continent."

"That boy, Daigo, with his Shōton... he might be similar to my Dust Release. Order all units at the border to retreat two kilometers. I don't want any of my ninjas breathing near Suna until we know their next move."

Ōnoki knew that everyone would be on high alert due to the Hokage's death, but that didn't mean he couldn't find a way to profit from this without officially re-entering the war.

"So they gave you that nickname, The Rose Demon of the Sand... not bad."

In the Land of Water

Far from the sunlight, in the eternal mist of Kirigakure, the Third Mizukage read the report alongside Mangetsu Hōzuki. The swordsman, who led the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, cleaned the blade of his sword with an unsettling calm.

"To kill a the Hokage... that is a feat not seen in quite some time, not since the Ginkaku and Kinkaku brothers killed Tobirama," the Mizukage hissed.

"Mangetsu, do you see what happens when you don't ensure a kill? If you had eliminated that brat, he wouldn't be a threat to Kirigakure today."

Mangetsu stopped, looking at his reflection in the damp steel. A cruel smile appeared on his face. "Don't worry, Mizukage-sama. That won't happen again. If I already took one of his eyes and nearly his life, next time it will be his head."

"I hope so, Mangetsu. If things go well with this counter-attack against the Land of Fire, I will retire. I would like you to take the role of the Fourth Mizukage, if your illness leaves your body and your are in perfect condition. Also the main thing you need to do is recover the swords that Suna stole from us."

With those words, Mangetsu retreated from the office. His eyes stared out at the vast ocean, covered in a thick, heavy fog.

Back in Kanzaki

With the world conspired, the atmosphere in Kanzaki was one of quiet rest. Suna had won the war, but the victory wasn't all glory; people had died, and the Kazekage was in poor condition.

A week after Hiruzen's fall, the village had become a massive workshop for reconstruction and rest. The landscape of Kanzaki was scarred great fissures of earth, stone, and sand remained. Medical ninjas, exhausted and with deep dark circles under their eyes, walked between new houses serving as provisional hospitals. The smell of disinfectant mingled with the scent of fresh stone from the walls.

The constant hammering of builders repairing homes destroyed by elemental jutsus could be heard, though the sound was often muffled by the quiet weeping at mass burials.

Many heroes of Suna had been buried under the very land they swore to protect. There were no grand monuments; instead, to show respect for the fallen ninjas of Suna, Daigo had constructed a monument made of crystal.

In the provisional command center, the Third Kazekage sat before a table covered in maps. However, he wasn't planning an attack. He looked at his own hands. They were grayish and rigid, as if life itself had withdrawn from his fingers.

He tried to concentrate, tried to summon a flicker of his Iron Sand, but the pain that shot through his chakra coils was so sharp it nearly made him fall from his chair.

Hiruzen Sarutobi had sealed him in a way that even Suna's best medics couldn't reverse. The iron in his veins, melted and solidified by the Tenrō Gōka, was now a prison.

"Rasa..." the Kazekage murmured to his pupil, who stood beside him covered in bandages with his arm in a sling. "It is time for the council to prepare the succession for a new Kazekage. With my chakra blocked and my body so heavily injured, I cannot defend the Sand."

Rasa looked at his sensei with a sad gaze; he wouldn't wish a permanent chakra block even on his worst enemy.

"Don't worry, Sensei. I will send the fastest hawk to the village once you have the letter ready," Rasa said, passing a piece of paper to the Kazekage, who began to write.

Away from the hustle and bustle of reconstruction, in a small stone house, Daigo was resting.

The room was austere: a bed, a table, and the dim light entering through a high window. Daigo lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling, though his mind was elsewhere, thinking about everything that had occurred.

The use of the eye's beam had not been free. The pink crystal eye, which remained closed for now, had sucked out so much chakra that he felt completely empty during the first few days. Even if that jutsu was a masterpiece, it would only be used when absolutely necessary.

The door opened softly. Pakura entered with a tray containing a thick soup, protein-rich meat, and several vials of medicine.

They had stayed in the same house, mostly because Pakura forced him so she could look after him, and Daigo didn't have a problem with that.

Though both had not spoken about their feelings, they were letting things happen naturally; neither cared much because now was not the time.

"I brought you something to eat, Dai," Pakura said with a softness she rarely showed. She sat on the edge of the bed, watching him. "Since you woke up, you've been thinking too much. Remember, you need to rest."

Daigo took the bowl of soup, the warmth of the liquid being the only pleasant sensation in his numb body.

"I know, Pakura-chan, but you know how I am when I have things on my mind; I can't get them out until I solve them. Thanks again for taking care of me like always," Daigo said, looking at her with a smile.

Pakura looked away, her face turning completely red. She touched her hair to compose herself, brushing a strand from her forehead.

"I have no problem taking care of you, Dai. Since we are living in the same house while in Kanzaki anyway... things outside are quite chaotic."

Noticing the way Pakura was calling him, Daigo simply smiled, thinking of a way to tease her.

"Dai... I like the way you say it. So, what should I call you? Paku? No, that doesn't sound right. Better yet, Ura-chan?" Daigo asked. Pakura just looked away again.

Seeing her reaction, Daigo just shook his head, happy that Pakura was helping him with everything he needed.

His feelings for her had already reached a point where even someone like him understood them.

He would have to talk to her when this war ended, or perhaps ask Todo Sensei for advice he surely knew more about these topics.

Daigo continued eating and later rested as time went on.

Shortly after, with Pakura's permission, Daigo was able to take a walk. Naturally, Pakura accompanied him through the streets of Kanzaki to defend him in his weakened state.

The ninjas who crossed their path stopped in their tracks to show a level of respect toward Daigo that he had never received before.

Pakura explained that it was thanks to his victories and his strength; all the ninjas of Suna were talking about him.

They arrived at an isolated structure on the edge of the main zone. It was a sturdy building made of reinforced stone, emanating a sharp smell of motor oil, old wood, and a metallic trace that refused to fade.

It was the puppeteers new workshop. Upon entering, the rhythmic sound of gears and precision tools filled the air.

The place was filled with half-finished puppets and anatomical wooden pieces scattered across the tables. In the center of the room, Sasori stood with his back turned, leaning over a dissection table containing extremely complex mechanical parts with ball joints and chakra cables that looked like nerves.

"It was about time you got back on your feet. Pakura wouldn't let anyone visit you for 'security' reasons," Sasori said without turning, continuing his work.

Daigo just looked at Pakura and shook his head, knowing he wouldn't be able to change her ways, and then walked to the table beside Sasori.

"I see you've almost finished the puppet I told you to make. Did you get the other thing we need for the next step?"

Sasori nodded, standing up to walk toward a wall. Upon touching it, the wall opened, leading to a secret room.

The three entered the room, which closed behind them. They walked down several stairs to another door, which Sasori opened.

Entering the new room, the smell reminded Pakura and Daigo of a hospital, though this was something else. Looking around, this was the workshop for Human Puppets

The first thing Daigo noticed was the body on the main table. Approaching it, he could only imagine how strong this puppet would be.

"Thanks to you, I was able to secure the body of the Third Hokage. This will be the new masterpiece that will become the main body, if your idea work," Sasori said.

"I see. With this, you'll be at a level high enough to rival a Kage. I imagine you also got the most important part, right?" Daigo asked.

Sasori nodded, performing another seal so that a wall opened and a puppet emerged.

The puppet was one of Sasori's creations, Kuroari (Black Ant).

When it opened, it revealed a Konoha ninja with blond hair, eyes covered, and hands and legs bound.

This make Daigo smile about what was coming next

"Perfect. Time for you to begin your true masterpiece, Sasori."
