Nelera and Conrad continued walking together. At the same time, Nelera began explaining the conditions of her ability.
"The first condition is that I cannot be the person who applies the ability."
Conrad nodded and remained silent.
"First, I have to make an agreement with someone. This agreement can take the form of a contract, a handshake, or me clearly asking the other person whether we have reached an agreement and receiving their confirmation."
"The second condition is that the person I made the agreement with must stand before my target and have two specific sentences and pieces of dialogue that I predetermined accepted and answered in the exact way I want."
"If the person I made the agreement with and my target complete the dialogue exactly as I planned, using the two sentences I prepared, the conditions are fulfilled."
"After that, the final condition is for either me or the person I made the agreement with to touch the target, even for a single second."
"All of this must happen within one hour after the dialogue begins."
Conrad thought for a moment.
"Isn't that unnecessarily restrictive?" he asked.
The conditions required just to control a single person were excessive.
Especially the fact that she could not use her own Nen ability directly and instead had to rely on another person.
Nelera smiled.
"Yes..."
"But if you hadn't noticed what was happening today..."
"If I had managed to place someone as powerful as you under my control..."
"Wouldn't I gain immense protection and power for the rest of my life?"
Conrad smiled as well but said nothing.
"If I can successfully use my Nen ability on the right person just once, that person will remain under my control for life. They won't lose any of their strength. In fact, I can even use the Nen ability of the person I've taken control of."
"Doesn't that change things?"
Conrad nodded. The fact that she could completely control someone, even to the point of using the abilities of a Nen user, changed everything.
"Who's your target?" he asked.
Nelera smiled.
"I'm getting closer little by little..."
"But my ultimate target is Isaac Netero!"
Conrad paused for a second before continuing to walk.
At first it sounded ridiculous and exaggerated, but the reason Nelera had chosen someone like Isaac Netero was obvious.
If by some miracle she completed all of her conditions, made an agreement through someone Netero trusted, and successfully placed him under her control...
Then for as long as Netero lived, Nelera would become one of the most powerful and dangerous individuals in the world.
The issue was not only Netero's personal strength. If controlled, Nelera could also make use of his influence and authority. Through him she could gain wealth, political power, and countless other advantages while remaining hidden in the shadows.
"Then let me ask you something," Conrad said.
Nelera glanced at him, waiting with interest.
"Is the target you control connected to your first condition? The requirement that another person must complete the agreement?"
Nelera laughed.
"Unfortunately, yes."
"Once I release control of someone, I can never use the same ability on that person again. I can also only control one person at a time."
"Because of that, the controlled person cannot be the one who makes the agreement for me. They would no longer be capable of willingly accepting the agreement."
"That remains true even after I release control."
Conrad took a deep breath.
"With the right strategy, Nelera's Nen ability could eliminate extremely powerful opponents..."
"I can understand why Chrollo collects Nen abilities the way a thief collects treasures..."
Several possible targets and methods came to Conrad's mind.
For now, however, none of that mattered.
One Day Later
After exchanging contact information, Conrad and Nelera parted ways.
Conrad returned to Yorknew City.
While sitting in a café, he called Leorio.
"Conrad?"
"Is something wrong?" Leorio asked. He was used to Conrad suddenly appearing in person rather than calling.
Conrad smiled.
"No. The reason I'm calling is because of someone you know."
Leorio rubbed his chin, adjusted his glasses, stood up from his chair, and walked toward the window of his room.
"Who?"
"What connection could you possibly have with someone I know?" he said with a laugh.
Conrad exhaled lightly before answering.
"The Kurta Clan..."
"Does the name Kurapika sound familiar?"
Leorio froze for nearly three seconds and couldn't say anything.
"The Kurta Clan...? Kurapika...?" he thought.
"What could Conrad possibly have to do with Kurapika?" he continued wondering.
Before he could speak, Conrad continued.
"This isn't anything negative involving Kurapika or the Kurta Clan. It's just that the person you know needs to learn something, and it's extremely important."
"I could find his number and location myself. But it matters much more if the information comes through you. You need to be the one who introduces us."
Leorio let out a slow breath.
"I'll call him."
"He's going to ask who you are and what this is about. What should I tell him?"
Conrad took a sip of his coffee before replying.
"Tell him I've obtained new information regarding the Kurta Clan. Tell him I have information about what happened between the Kurta Clan and the Phantom Troupe, as well as information about the people behind it all."
"You can tell him I'm your student. You don't need to say anything more than that."
Leorio understood how serious the matter was. The fact that someone like Conrad was personally involved already showed its importance.
"Alright."
"I'll let you know," he said.
