Chapter 199 - The Silent Curtain - Chapter 199

For Conrad, traversing the distance of the general area was not that problematic at all.

He just needed to be more careful to not get noticed.

This was much harder than just taking care of the Snake Of The Blue Mountain gang due to the existence of nen.

It is rare for a new user to be capable of putting barriers all around, but it was still a chance.

Conrad did not want to trigger some sort of barrier-type ability that activates when an intruder enters a place that they are not invited to.

If he were to decide a place is their headquarters, he would be most likely inclined to put such an ability, or at least a Nen script that would work in the same type of way.

"I guess."

"This is the last one." Conrad made the fourth obelisk and hid it under a trunk.

He did not use five obelisks because he wanted one of them to stay with himself.

This was due to the reason that he wanted to be able to put up an obelisk where he was at directly without needing to work for it.

Obelisks would help a lot with him if he were to be in a battle; he would find himself having problems with the enemies.

"Now."

Conrad took a deep breath and sensed everything inside of the rectangle.

It covered the whole manor with no problem.

"Hmm."

"About one hundred people all around the small huts that I saw."

"But I saw no people leaving those huts; it must be living quarters for the followers," Conrad thought.

He then tried to penetrate the manor itself.

Bluenight Manor had some sort of a nanobarier.

"Just as I thought."

"It is bad..." Conrad commented.

He tried to enter the Bluenight Manor with his view due to Obelisk, but he could not see what was inside of the manor at all.

Conrad then stopped for a moment and let out a deep breath.

"Now."

"There is a new barrier covering the manor."

"When I wanted to enter to see around using my obelisk, I encountered resistance."

"But the resistance was not that strong."

"So, it is a new barrier that is put in place for stopping new abilities for intelligence gathering."

"It does not have enough power."

"If I want to, I can just go barge in with no problem."

Conrad at this point was really experienced with nen users, especially in terms of nen control, feeling, and mastery over it.

It is not hard for him to deduce something like this with %99 accuracy at all.

"This means that I will not have information about the situation inside."

"It is really risky to try and enter such a manor when I don't know how many official members that are able to put up a fight will be there."

"In the future, I should focus on increasing the number of NEN users in my team to up to ten or even fifteen."

"Five people if they are not all at my level is not nearly enough for many types of missions." Conrad said to himself.

As he turned to go back and leave the area, he saw a young man with a flashlight, and then a second later, he noticed him.

"You! " As the young man uttered these words, Conrad vanished from his place and appeared behind the young man and turned his neck, killing the man in less than a second.

With great attention, he used his "En" for a moment to look around.

"When I use Obelisk, my En cannot be used at the same time."

"So, I was not aware of my surroundings..."

"A big mistake." Conrad shook his head.

He then took the corpse of the young man wearing white robes, most likely a new member and a follower of the organization, and left the area.

While he left, inside of the manor, a young woman sitting on the chair opened her eyes and directly went to the room of Adex.

Adex looked at Blora and nodded before she needed to speak.

"I know."

"One of the followers is killed."

Blora nodded.

"The life connection was severed too closely; the name of the follower is Erdina, a new follower. He must be killed around the perimeters of the manor."

Adex nodded and asked.

"Your silent curtain is active?"

Blora nodded.

"Yes, sir."

"It is always active when I am in the manor."

Adex smiled.

"Good."

"As long as your nen ability is active, the enemy cannot gather any information about the inside of the manor."

Blora nodded.

Adex thought for some time and then said it.

"It is safe to assume that the enemy did not want to kill the follower but encountered him."

"So, he or she needed to kill him to not gather any attention."

"At this stage, the enemy must be thinking that we may know about it and then left the area."

"It would be hard to find whoever he is."

"I would guess he would be a scout type."

"He wanted to gather information."

"It is easy to see that he or she must be capable, as they were able to find our headquarters."

Blora listened without interrupting.

Adex then asked.

"Your Silent Curtain, how does it work? Explain to me clearly, as I think I need to refresh my memory."

Blora nodded and said it.

"I can transmute my nen into a black curtain that I can cover the relatively unlimited amount of area with as long as I am connected to the light bearer amulet."

"When this curtain is active, almost all nen abilities, minus the more powerful and dangerous nen abilities that involve big conditions, are blocked from gathering any information where the curtain is covering."

Adex nodded.

"If you were not to be sucking aura from the Light Bearer Amulet, what area could you cover up?"

Blora thought for a moment and then said it.

"I can cover up to a 500 m² area if I am not fighting and just focusing on it."

"If I am fighting, it goes down to 100 m²."

Adex nodded.

"I understand."

"Go, meet with our quasi-members, and tell them to gather information about the gangs and what is going on in the city."

"We may find some information."

Blora nodded.

"I will do it" and then left the room.
