Chapter 1 - Chapter : A New Beginning

Pain was not the first thing I remembered.

Loneliness was.

Earth – Ru Ming Sakamoto

My name was Ru Ming Sakamoto.

I was not born into love.

My parents fought constantly—voices raised, dishes shattered, doors slammed shut. As a child, I would sit quietly in the corner, hugging my knees, pretending I didn't hear them arguing about money, about life, about me.

My father was harsh. Cold. Distant.

My mother… she was different.

She wasn't cruel, but she wasn't strong either.

Sometimes she smiled at me. Sometimes she cooked for me. Sometimes she brushed my hair and told me to study well. But behind her eyes, there was always something else—desire.

She wanted a better life.

A richer life.

And eventually, that desire outweighed me.

The fights grew worse. Accusations turned into hatred. One day, my father packed his bags and left. The divorce papers followed soon after.

My mother got custody of me.

For a while, I thought things would be better.

I was wrong.

Not long after, my mother met another man. He was wealthy, well-dressed, and lived in a beautiful house. She smiled more around him. She laughed more. She dressed better.

But that man did not want me.

"A child that isn't mine?" he said once, his voice calm but sharp. "He will only be a burden."

I heard everything.

That night, I waited for my mother to defend me.

She didn't.

Instead, she came to my room, avoided my eyes, and said softly,

"Ru Ming… you're old enough to take care of yourself now."

That was the day she left.

She married him.

And I stayed behind.

Alone.

The house felt enormous without anyone else inside it.

Dust gathered. The lights felt too dim. The silence was unbearable. Days passed without a single conversation. No one asked if I ate. No one asked how I felt.

I went to school, came back, and lived like a ghost.

I asked myself many times:

Why wasn't I enough?

Why did everyone leave?

I just wanted parents.

Good parents.

That was all.

Depression wrapped around me like a heavy fog. To escape it, I started reading manga and novels. I played games endlessly, losing myself in other worlds where heroes mattered and bonds were real.

At night, I drank.

I smoked.

Not because I wanted to—but because it helped me forget.

One year passed like that.

Then came the diagnosis.

"Stage four."

The doctor's voice was professional, distant, practiced.

"You don't have much time left."

Cancer.

Final stage.

I didn't cry.

I didn't scream.

I just nodded.

Somehow, I already knew.

I returned to my empty house and sat on the floor for a long time. I thought about calling my mother.

Then I laughed.

What would I even say?

So I made a decision.

If I was going to die, I would die quietly.

No hospital bed.

No pity.

No false sympathy.

I played games all day. Read novels all night. Ate whatever I wanted. Lived however I wished.

And one evening, while reading a novel about rebirth and second chances, my vision blurred.

My chest hurt.

Breathing became difficult.

The last thing I thought was—

If there is a next life… please… let me have better parents.

Then everything went dark.

Another World – Jimmy Welton

I could see.

At first, everything was blurry, like fog lifting slowly. Light seeped in, warm and gentle. Above me stretched an unfamiliar ceiling—grand, ornate, glowing faintly with magical patterns.

I tried to move.

Tiny hands entered my vision.

Small fingers.

Soft skin.

…What?

Confusion hit me like a wave.

Then memories flooded in.

The house.

The loneliness.

The hospital.

The diagnosis.

I remembered dying.

Cancer.

So why was I here?

I felt warmth around me—soft blankets, luxurious fabric, gentle hands holding me carefully. Voices echoed nearby, deep and dignified, filled with emotion.

"This child…"

"He's healthy."

"A fine heir."

Suddenly, understanding dawned upon me.

I had been reborn.

Into a noble family.

A second life.

Tears threatened to fall, but instead, I smiled inside my heart.

Thank you… whoever you are.

Joyous voices echoed through the grand halls of Duke Halfthōr Welton's palace.

The Duke's first son had been born.

His name was Jimmy Welton.

Nobles gathered. Servants bowed. Bells rang throughout the estate.

A priest stepped forward, holding the child carefully. His expression changed the moment he examined me.

"This boy…" the elderly priest said slowly, his voice trembling, "He resembles you greatly, my lord."

He closed his eyes, sensing deeper.

"I feel something extraordinary. A presence… not ordinary. This child carries immense potential—perhaps even a divine blessing."

The hall fell silent.

Then—

Laughter erupted.

Joyful, proud laughter.

The Duke smiled broadly, his powerful presence radiating happiness. Nobles clapped, servants cheered, and the palace overflowed with celebration.

Only I knew the truth.

That inside the body of Jimmy Welton, lived the soul of Ru Ming Sakamoto—a boy abandoned in one world, given another chance in this one.

This time…

I will live well.

This time… I won't be alone.
