Chapter 412: You've already finished lunch, right?
All that can be said is that what's happening right now is very "Obito."
People often say Obito is similar to Naruto, yet the two of them went through completely different experiences and still both ended up thinking the real world was an illusion.
Of course, Obito at least has a bit more experience, and being from the Uchiha clan, he managed to notice something was off a little earlier than Naruto.
If that part is still somewhat understandable, then the other aspect is simply a classic outbreak of Obito's personality.
Why is it that one moment he was thinking, "Even if Rin and Grandma really appear, they are still fake. The versions of them in the real world are fake. Only the ones inside Infinite Tsukuyomi are real!"
And the next moment he's yelling, "No, Grandma...!"
Why does this happen?
That brings up one of the so-called "fantasy-tier traits" of the ninja world: "Unwavering Will Obito."
What does "fantasy-tier" mean? It means that in the original, real ninja world, he didn't actually have this ability. It was his fatal flaw.
Now that flaw has been patched over, making him flawless. That's why he becomes "fantasy-tier."
Just like "Healthy Itachi", "Informed Jiraiya", and the ideas Shiromo once suggested to the Akatsuki: "Hidan Who Squats in the Bathroom" and "Konan Who Dumps Bulk Toilet Paper."
All of these belong to the same category.
The latter two either compensate for Hidan's low intelligence or lower Konan's moral standards, both leading to terrifying improvements.
And what about Obito?
During the ninja war, he spoke seriously to Naruto, trying to prove he was right.
When talking to Kakashi, he even said, "The dead Rin is fake", denying the Rin of the real world. That also served as an explanation for why he didn't use Rinne Rebirth to revive her.
At the same time, he claimed Rin was just a trigger, a catalyst that made him see the darkness of the ninja world, and the reason he believed in carrying out Infinite Tsukuyomi.
It all sounded very noble.
He seemed to have transcended base desires, no longer the obsessive simp from the manga, but more like the movie version of Thanos, fighting for universal balance and willing to sacrifice even his beloved daughter.
But what actually happened?
When his will was nearly torn apart by the Ten-Tails, it was Rin who helped him steady himself.
So much for Rin just being a "trigger", and the real goal being peace in the ninja world.
Later, when Naruto used talk-no-jutsu on him, Obito kept recalling Rin over and over again.
When he tried to make Naruto despair and understand the harsh reality, he didn't kill Hinata, didn't kill Sakura, didn't kill Sasuke. Instead, for some reason, he killed Neji.
What, in Obito's eyes, was Neji supposed to be Naruto's Rin?
Is that how you interpret bonds?
It's like how Madara tried to make Obito fall into darkness. Imagine Obito running onto the battlefield in despair, only to see Kakashi piercing Might Guy through the heart with Chidori.
In the end, it's simple. Obito saw himself in Naruto. Deep down, he didn't want Naruto's "Rin" to die, trying to compensate for his own regrets.
Even the Sword of Nunoboko, symbolizing his will, broke just like that.
So don't be fooled into thinking Obito is some exception among the Uchiha, a hot-blooded fool or a straightforward heterosexual.
In reality, he still has the core Uchiha trait.
You cannot trust what they say.
Much of what comes out of their mouths has no real reference value.
So everything he told White Zetsu before about not caring was false.
Of course, before Obito is completely turned around by talk-no-jutsu, he won't admit that.
He needs another justification.
"Infinite Tsukuyomi is a dream. What you think about during the day appears in your dreams. If I activate it with my current mindset, the dream might have flaws…"
Obito found himself an excuse.
Saving Grandma wasn't because he cared. It was to prevent her image in his mind from being distorted, which would affect her role and storyline inside Infinite Tsukuyomi.
So the question became: How does he get there?
This place is extremely far from Konoha.
He has no idea when Kakashi will next open Kamui to take something out.
What if it happens in a minute?
By the time he gets there, everything would already be over.
There is only one solution.
"White Zetsu, do me a favor."
Obito looked at the White Zetsu following behind him.
"Huh? What favor? No matter what it is, I'll help you, Obito~"
"Let's merge like we did before."
"Huh? Obito, I didn't expect you to remember that… I-I-I'm so touched~"
As he spoke, White Zetsu spread his body and wrapped around Obito, the spiral face perfectly covering Obito's mask.
"We're still missing one thing."
Obito touched his face, then walked outside and casually picked up a shard of glass from the ground.
Then he activated Kamui.
With a twist of space, Obito, completely enveloped by White Zetsu, entered the raging Kamui dimension.
The moment he entered, he quickly stuffed the glass shard into the only opening in the spiral face, the eye hole.
"White Zetsu, quick, seal it!"
White Zetsu followed the command, slightly opening the spiral face and wrapping around the glass shard as if it were a lens.
Finally, Obito's entire body was sealed.
With a splash, he fell into a vast ocean.
That's right. His plan was to directly enter the Kamui dimension and use Kakashi's Kamui as a relay point to reach Konoha instantly.
No matter when Kakashi activates it, he would arrive immediately.
The only problem is that before Kakashi opens Kamui, he has to stay here… and swim.
He had truly entered a "sea of madness."
"Obito, I love you so much! I didn't expect you to bring me along for something this fun. You're the best!"
At this point, Obito gave up controlling his body. In these waves, there was nothing he needed to do, so he simply closed his eyes to rest, avoiding seeing anything through the single glass lens.
Meanwhile, White Zetsu happily took over his body, swimming enthusiastically in the turbulent sea while thanking him.
Honestly, it makes sense that White Zetsu likes this kind of thing.
After all, as plant-based beings, this is rich nutrition to them. Perfect fertilizer.
Time passed, who knows how long.
The glass lens had already turned yellow, making it impossible to see outside.
Though even if he could see, it wouldn't matter.
Finally.
Obito felt the Kamui dimension being opened.
He immediately regained control of his body, using his own strength along with White Zetsu's boost. With a powerful kick, he shot forward like a cannonball toward the opening.
---
Land of Fire, Konohagakure Village.
Kakashi was at the training ground, practicing Kamui.
He had just transferred an empty can inside and was about to bring it back out when he suddenly sensed something was wrong.
A surging wave burst out from his eye, and atop the wave was a yellow humanoid figure riding it into the open space!
