The instant Uchiha Madara appeared - dragged back into the world through Edo Tensei ("Impure World Reincarnation") - the masked man, Uchiha Obito, was swallowed by shock so deep it almost felt like paralysis. It wasn't only the impossibility of it, but the weight that came with Madara's presence: a suffocating authority that pressed into the room and made even seasoned killers instinctively hold their breath.
Then Madara opened his eyes.
The Rinnegan.
A power said to belong to the Sage of Six Paths - eyes that, aside from legend itself, only Madara had ever truly awakened. When that gaze swept over Obito, it didn't feel like a man looking at another man. It felt like a verdict.
Madara stared at him, cold and unmoved.
"So, Obito… you really did betray me."
His voice was calm, but every word cut deep.
"Back then, my plan was straightforward. Nagato would possess the Rinnegan. You would act under my name, execute the Eye of the Moon Plan, and capture the Tailed Beasts. Then, at the appropriate moment, you would force Nagato to use Rinne Tensei ('Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique') to revive me."
Madara's tone hardened, contempt creeping in.
"But now? The Tailed Beast capture plan has completely stalled… and as for reviving me - clearly you never intended to carry it out."
Obito's forehead immediately slicked with cold sweat.
"Uchiha Madara… I didn't expect you to appear like this."
Madara gave a low, derisive snort.
"Hmph. If I hadn't appeared, you would've forgotten your savior entirely."
His gaze sharpened, the pressure behind it increasing.
"And you would've thrown the Eye of the Moon Plan away too - once you decided you didn't need it."
Obito inhaled slowly. The initial shock settled into a guarded calm, the kind forced onto a man who couldn't afford to crack.
"You're wrong, Madara."
He spoke evenly, but the tension under his words was unmistakable.
"Maybe I didn't want you revived this early. But I will execute the Eye of the Moon Plan. This world is hopeless - I can't endure even one more day living in it."
Madara's lips curled in amusement, as if he'd heard a child insist he'd become king.
"Oh, you'll execute it."
Then his voice dropped, sharp as a blade.
"But only if you control it - rather than me, the real Uchiha Madara. Isn't that right?"
Obito fell silent.
That silence was his answer.
Madara watched him for a moment, and something like approval flickered behind the arrogance.
"I expected this day would come eventually… but I didn't think it would come so soon."
His gaze narrowed.
"Uchiha Obito… you're no longer that naive little boy."
Obito's reply was steady.
"That's because you taught me well."
For a heartbeat, Madara stared - then burst into laughter, loud and unrestrained.
"Hahahahaha! Well said!"
The laughter faded into a grin, proud and cold.
"And I won't blame you. If I were you, I'd likely do the same."
Madara leaned forward slightly, voice heavy with certainty.
"All it means is that you didn't just inherit the name 'Uchiha Madara' - you inherited my will."
With a single kick, he sent the coffin lid flying. He stepped out as if the world owed him space, then strode forward and sat casually on Akatsuki's leader's throne.
His long black hair lifted slightly, stirred by an unseen force. The Rinnegan burned with a terrifying light, like an emperor's gaze cast over a conquered land.
Obito's brow tightened.
But he didn't speak.
Madara rested an elbow on the throne, almost relaxed.
"Obito, I won't punish you for defying my orders."
He tilted his chin, eyes unwavering.
"Because you are, in a sense, another Uchiha Madara."
A pause - measured, deliberate.
"And I still need you to help me accomplish many things."
Obito's voice remained cautious.
"Such as?"
Madara's answer came clean and brutal.
"Such as declaring war."
"Not only against the Five Great Nations - against the entire shinobi world."
His gaze sharpened into something lethal.
"This time, I'll solve everything in one stroke. The Tailed Beasts, the Eye of the Moon Plan - everything will be realized, completely."
Obito's tone was flat.
"That's what I intended as well."
Madara's smile turned colder.
"And yet your power still wasn't enough."
Kabuto's name appeared in his words like a knife laid on the table.
"Kabuto has already told me. This shinobi world has produced a man named Chiba - someone they call the Lord of the Shinobi World."
Madara's voice carried disdain, as though the title itself offended him.
"He defeated you repeatedly. He defeated Akatsuki repeatedly. The Tailed Beast capture plan, the Eye of the Moon Plan - ruined again and again because of him. Isn't that right?"
At Chiba's name, Obito's fist tightened. The hatred in his silence was almost audible.
Madara continued, unbothered.
"Even I didn't expect this. Aside from Hashirama, I never imagined the shinobi world would produce another existence like this."
His tone shifted, reluctantly acknowledging, then cutting again.
"So I won't blame you completely. Your incompetence disappoints me, but this obstacle is… unusual."
Madara's eyes narrowed.
"This time, I will personally end his reign."
He gave a cold laugh, the sound drenched in contempt.
"'Lord of the Shinobi World'?"
He leaned forward, the room's pressure thickening.
"Even Hashirama was never worthy of that name. He was naive. Weak. Too willing to trust."
Madara's voice rose, pride roaring through it.
"Only I - Uchiha Madara - am worthy of being called the true Lord of the Shinobi World."
Kabuto smiled faintly.
"Indeed."
Obito shot Kabuto a cold look, then returned to Madara, forcing himself to keep the tension from spilling into open conflict.
"Then tell me, Madara. What's your plan?"
Madara answered as if it were the most obvious truth in the world.
"This world has been at peace for too long."
"It's time to start a new war."
He narrowed his eyes, calculating.
"Obito, I know Chiba - the Mizukage - has convened another Five Kage Summit to discuss the development of the Five Great Nations and the wider shinobi world."
Madara's voice sharpened into command.
"I want you to use the name Uchiha Madara and issue an ultimatum."
"Either they hand over Chiba and every remaining Jinchūriki…"
His Rinnegan glinted, merciless.
"Or they prepare to face the true wrath of Uchiha Madara."
Obito's mind stirred. It aligned with his own intent - corner the world, force a response, make them move on Akatsuki's terms.
Still, he pressed once more, voice lowering.
"I was planning that anyway."
"But Madara… you've heard it too. Chiba's strength is monstrous. Are you truly certain you can defeat him?"
Madara burst into laughter again, loud and fearless.
"Obito… you still know nothing about my power!"
His confidence was absolute, almost violent.
"At my level, even if Hashirama were revived, it would mean nothing. And you're worried about some upstart who appeared out of nowhere?!"
Obito's mouth almost twisted into a smile beneath the mask.
He'd once believed the same thing.
And it had cost him dearly.
Madara was terrifyingly strong - but with arrogance like this, fate had a way of finding cracks.
Still, Obito didn't argue.
He simply nodded.
"Fine."
"I'll handle it."
Madara's gaze drifted, as if he were speaking past the room, past the present, toward the one man who had defined his life.
"Hashirama… the shinobi order you created has failed."
His voice turned into a declaration, heavy and final.
"Now it's my turn to decide the shinobi world's fate."
Then, with the solemnity of a curse being sealed into the earth itself, he announced:
"The Eye of the Moon Plan…"
"From this moment onward…"
"Officially begins!!!!"
At that very moment, the Five Kage Summit was underway.
For two full years, the shinobi world had enjoyed peace, stability, and rapid development - an era that felt almost unnatural after generations of bloodshed. Whether anyone liked admitting it or not, that stability existed largely because of one man.
Chiba.
That was why the title "Lord of the Shinobi World" no longer sounded like exaggeration. It was becoming reality.
This summit was mostly familiar faces. Only Sunagakure had changed leaders, now represented by the Godai Kazekage, Gaara.
The attendees were:
Kirigakure: Godai Mizukage, Chiba
Konohagakure: Godai Hokage, Tsunade
Iwagakure: Sandaime Tsuchikage, Ōnoki of the s
Kumogakure: Yondaime Raikage, A
Sunagakure: Godai Kazekage, Gaara
When Chiba was away from Kirigakure, Mei Terumi still served as acting Mizukage, managing the village's affairs in his stead.
Unlike before, Chiba didn't bring Hōzuki Mangetsu or Hoshigaki Kisame this time.
Instead, he arrived with the next generation - young shinobi who had once been children, now already capable of carrying themselves as true elites:
Kaguya Kimimaro… and Haku.
Haku, in particular, had long since shed the fragile innocence of the past. She had grown into a young woman with a gentle brightness and clear, refined beauty - calm in presence, yet steady with the quiet confidence of someone who had survived storms and emerged sharper for it.
