Chapter 245 The Frost Giants
A large number of Frost Giants gathered here, rebuilding their palace. In the icy weather, they and their tamed Frost Beasts moved massive stones, working diligently.
Finney, in stealth mode, watched this scene from the air, a slight sigh escaping his lips.
The Frost Giants were originally among the strongest in the Nine Realms; otherwise, they wouldn't have become Asgard's mortal enemies. Odin's eyes had even been gouged out by them, yet now they looked rather pitiful.
However, he only sighed; he didn't actually have any goodwill towards the Frost Giants.
After all, they had invaded Earth, trying to send humanity back to the Ice Age. If it weren't for Asgard's aid, who knows what Earth would be like now.
Descending from the sky, Finney didn't deactivate his stealth mode but instead prepared to quietly investigate the situation.
Although Laufey was dead, judging from the current situation, they might already have a new king, so he felt it best to gather intelligence first.
Phine walked among the Frost Giants, able to understand their conversations thanks to the translator he'd acquired in Asgard.
Based on the information he'd gathered along the way, he pieced together what appeared to be three leaders:
Fabuti, a Frost Giantess and Laufey's wife, and her sons Helblindi and Belister.
These three jointly ruled the entire Frost Giant race.
Phine was utterly astonished upon hearing this, his first thought being Loki. He wondered what Loki's reaction would be if he knew.
However, Phineas guessed that Loki would only loathe and want to destroy Jotunheim even more. He hated the Frost Giants, hated his own origins, and essentially still considered himself an Asgardian, the son of Odin, the god of mischief, Loki.
Moreover, he had been abandoned back then.
Putting aside his thoughts about Loki, Phineas, following the intelligence, infiltrated the newly built palace. The three of them were currently residing there; it was they who had summoned almost all the Frost Giants, resulting in Phineas encountering nothing but frost behemoths on the road.
Even though it was a newly built palace, it was still very simple, and because the Frost Giants disliked light and heat, everything around was very dark, making Phineas's infiltration extremely difficult.
"We should have allied with Carnilla and rebelled against Asgard together!"
"Shut up, Belister!"
Just as Phineas was struggling to find his way, he suddenly heard several arguing voices. Following the direction of the sound, he discovered a stone chamber.
"Look at your people outside. Do you think they're enough to wage a war?"
The wide stone chamber door wasn't completely closed, so the voice came from inside. Finney approached the relatively loose crack in the door and peeked inside.
Several large windows opened in the chamber, making it not too dark and allowing Finney to see the people arguing loudly.
Although most frost giants looked similar to Finney, these three were clearly different.
First, their size: these three frost giants were much larger than ordinary frost giants, looking more like true giants. Second,
their equipment: Finney didn't know what the frost giants' living conditions were like, but the frost giants outside building the palace were dressed very simply.
The soldiers' armor only protected the most vital parts and looked very old.
But the equipment of these three was obviously much more refined. Based on the name he had just heard, Finney had some guesses about their identities.
Just as Finney was about to peek through the crack in the door to eavesdrop on their conversation, a chilling aura suddenly spread from his feet up his body as he stepped into the room, seemingly freezing him.
"Who!?"
This was clearly a warning device or spell specifically designed to detect intruders.
Finney was startled and, without thinking, instantly activated his 'Breathing Technique.' Although the solar energy here was extremely scarce, it was enough for him to activate his fire mode.
"A fire giant!?"
Seeing Finney's burning form, the others in the room were stunned.
If there were reasons for hatred and a possibility of mutual understanding between the frost giants and Asgardians, then the frost giants and fire giants were simply born to dislike each other.
Frost giants preferred cold, damp environments; heat and fire, besides being repulsive to them, were also a form of weakening and torment. Conversely, the fire giants felt the same way.
Both races were extremely environmentally conscious, so although they knew of each other, they had rarely seen each other's races.
The sudden appearance of a 'fire giant' on their own territory was as astonishing as discovering Odin dancing with Gungnir.
However, they were only surprised by Phine's fiery appearance; upon closer inspection, they realized that Phine wasn't the fire giant they remembered.
"Who are you?"
Because of their 'possession by evil spirits,' they didn't immediately consider Phine to be an Earthling or an Asgardian. There were so many strange races in the universe; no one could guarantee they knew them all.
After activating his fire mode, the icy aura spreading from his feet disappeared, allowing Phine to breathe a sigh of relief. Then he heard their interrogation.
Phine looked up at the three towering frost giants surrounding him, pondering his next move.
Meanwhile, in Asgard,
Heimdall's gaze pierced through countless planets at the observatory, landing on Phine, discovered by the frost giants.
Phine's guess was correct. Odin didn't want Phine to go to Jotunheim, but he also didn't want to restrict Phine's actions. So, he secretly instructed Heimdall to teleport Phine to the furthest point from the Frost Giants.
Unfortunately, he didn't expect that even so, Phine would still find the Frost Giants' gathering place.
"He met with the Frost Giants!"
After hesitating for a moment, Heimdall still reported to Odin using his abilities.
"Hmm, I understand. Observe what he's up to, don't interfere!"
Odin frowned upon hearing this, gave the order, and pondered Phine's purpose in going to Jotunheim.
Phine was somewhat helpless at this moment. He hadn't expected to be discovered so quickly. He was clearly not suited for scout work. Looking at the three wary and vigilant people before him, he sighed and greeted them:
"Hello!"
