Chapter 23 - Death is not bad

" Death isn't so bad…

My body is numb and my consciousness is slipping away…

It was a wonderful experience, but it looks like I won't get to explore everything."

Jaspin placed Helena's head between her hands and unleashed her power. Helena's fading consciousness, drowning in darkness, felt something like a trampoline form around it. Then, suddenly, it began lifting her upward with tremendous force. The pain and everything else returned at terrifying speed.

Helena writhed from the chest pain. Despite the ringing that had deafened her ears, she could hear clearly. Jaspin said:

"You'll heal quickly."

"Thank you."

They limped toward the lake and looked behind them…

The shit pile and the flesh-eating bees had given up long ago. They now looked like two tiny dots on that hill. Helena complained:

"Ah, what the hell?

All that teleporting was for nothing."

She fell onto her back, feeling her condition gradually improve. Jaspin, lying beside her, had a body as good as new. Helena asked:

"What did you do?"

"I just patched your energy body. This will speed up your healing several times over."

"But… how can I hear? I mean, I felt like my eardrums were torn, yet I can hear clearly!"

"That's because the energy body is handling it. It's like a phantom limb that acts as a life-support device for the organ. I can even stabilize life in non-viable soma and stimulate it to regenerate."

"Wow… how did you get this ability?"

Jaspin tensed and said:

"Actually… Rody gave it to me so I could work with him in the talisman repair workshop. But I was terrible at it. I never liked that job anyway. Hours of sewing, isolating, and testing tiny beyond nerve cells it was mentally and visually exhausting."

"But what does the energy body have to do with talismans?"

"Ugh, how dense can you be? Talismans are compressed energy bodies called energosoma, shaped to become visible in the physical world."

"Oh, right… he did say that when he gave me these things…"

[Helena extended her claws]

"…Wait a second. Does this mean you can regenerate from injuries?"

"Y… yes."

Helena's heart began pounding hard, as if something had awakened inside her upon learning that Jaspin could regenerate. She sat up straight, placed her hand on her heart, and felt her lust stirring and her cock hardening. She shook her head from side to side, trying to push away any lewd thoughts.

She stood up, washed her face in the lake water, and wiped the blood off. Suddenly she heard a popping sound in her right ear and began hearing normally again.

< Jaspin was right. >

They continued their journey through the western fields of Taured after refilling their water supplies.

Rita said:

"You know, I'm still wondering what that living shit was. I'm being serious. We might have discovered a new life form."

Jaspin replied:

"Can you change the subject? That stench is as bad as your personality."

"I'm not that bad."

Rita flew toward Helena and wrapped her arms around her neck.

"Isn't that right, my little pervert?"

Helena waved her hands, trying to push Rita away, but only received a cold sting from her ghostly body. Helena got angry and released her energy aura, which burned part of Rita's energy body and forced her away. Rita screamed from a distance:

"Disturbing the observer… That will affect my evaluation of your performance."

She received no reply.

They kept walking for many hours until they found wheel tracks in the grass that reached knee height. From there, the tracks led to a well-trodden path marked by the feet and wheels of caravans.

Not much time passed before a group of people appeared with carriages for transporting passengers and goods, pulled by animals that looked like sheep the size of cows…

Suddenly, something seemed to jump out of one of the carriages and came running toward the trio…

The scene became clear: it was a girl wearing green…

No, a small girl with black skin and a dress made of tree leaves…

No, a black-skinned girl wearing a long coat made of tree leaves, some of which were burned, with square-shaped pupils.

Hailey blocked her path. Helena said:

"What is this? Is she a creeperwoman? Will she explode if she gets close? Hhh."

Jaspin replied:

"Yes, it looks like your pheromones attracted her. Gather your aura until you learn how to encrypt it."

Before the small girl could reach Helena, Hailey grabbed her and teleported her instantly back to the caravan.

The girl jumped down and started running toward Helena again…

Hailey grabbed her and sent her back…

The girl jumped again and ran toward Helena…

Hailey grabbed her and sent her back…

The girl jumped again and ran toward Helena…

Hailey grabbed her,

but this time Helena placed her hand on Hailey's shoulder. They teleported together.

*BOOM*

The unexpected teleport caused Helena's body to spasm from the sudden lack of pressure. The caravan stopped because of the sound of Hailey's teleport.

"Hehehe, so this is the cause of your disturbance, Kari."

An old man sitting inside one of the carriages said as he held the small girl. He noticed the crimson color of Helena's eyes.

The small girl began making a hissing sound like a snake and writhed, trying to escape the old man's grip. Her cute green underwear was exposed, which made her hissing even louder, as if she was about to explode. From inside the carriage, a louder and deeper hissing sound came out. A grown woman of the same species as the small girl emerged. The old man released the small girl and began patting the adult female's head while the small girl ran to Helena's feet and hugged her.

Hailey felt jealous. She twisted in place, and for the first time, anger appeared on her face. Helena hugged her from behind and stroked her hair until she calmed down and began purring happily. The guards approached. Helena said:

"I'm very sorry. This girl has no control over herself."

"Enderwomen are extremely dangerous. What if her teleport intersected with one of the passengers?"

"I'm sorry again. I'm still in the process of taming her."

Jaspin came from behind:

"Hello, I'd like to ask about the location of the village of Godyferty."

The old man said:

"Ah, we actually just came from there. Just follow our wheels and keep going straight ahead."

"Thank you."

The old man said:

"Karen, bring your daughter."

Karen stood up. She was wearing more orderly clothes made of tree leaves. Hailey trembled with anger at her approach. Helena calmed her. Karen didn't care. She exchanged a visually intense, lust-filled look with the tense Helena, letting out a low hissing sound. Helena's cheeks flushed red. Karen said:

"Hello."

Karen's sudden speech made Helena's body tense in surprise. Karen smiled with her perfectly square teeth, picked up her daughter, and returned to the carriage while the girl kept staring at Helena.

The old man nodded to the soldier.

The soldier stepped back and ordered the caravan to move.

The carriages rolled past them, leaving Helena standing still, staring in the direction of the mother and daughter.

"Helena, aren't you going to move?!"

"That was suspicious."

"You're a fertility goddess. Are you still surprised by situations like this?!"

The scene returned to the caravan and the old man, who said to some of the mercenaries:

"No need to search for her. It looks like she came to us on her own feet."
