Third Person POV. -- 30th of December -- 2415
[ Kawaguchiko Town ]
Bottled up emotions will one day explode, just like a supressed water pressure that will eventually break through its hatch, or a bottle of cola that is shaken up.
It will one day explode outward, and the pieces it will leave behind, whether they can be fixed and or be put back together again, it is a situational debate.
.
..
...
Early morning lights filter through the room where a trio of Kie, Mina and Himiko occupy, its fourth member missing from her spot, noticeable by her absence within the fourth futon that doesn't occupy her.
Turning inside her futon due to the rays of the sun spilling on her face, Kie cracks one eye open to come face to face with the empty spot beside her, seeing her daughter's futon with the girl herself missing.
Moments pass in quiet thinking, before Kie extends her hand to her side and brings close her phone. Opening the locking screen, her eyes slightly lighten up as she comes face to face with a notification, specifically one sent by her husband from 3 in the morning.
She quickly goes to her messages, before opening the message sent by Tetsuya, seeing a row of texts, it being about the reason for his missing this morning.
–––
Tetsuya: Hey there hun, sorry for the late notice. I saw your calls when I had the time, sorry again for not answering.
Anyways, it seems work is getting quite hectic, so I unfortunately won't be around to spend time with you all. Please relay my apology to the kids and spend your last day vacation without me. I'm sorry but it seems I can't make it in time. Sorry again.
Love y'all.
–––
"... " Reading the text, Kie quietly lies in her futon, before she moves to get up and go towards the exit of the room, taking her phone with her as she does so.
'This message is so unusual. What is going on really? ' Kie questions, moving towards the room opposite to the bedroom where the bathroom is, having put down her phone as she entered the toiletry section.
'Tetsuya doesn't usually apologize so much in his messages. Is this a reflection of his emotions regarding his absence? Does he really feel so sorry that he's conveying it so much?
Sigh, so unusual, ' Kie thinks, having finished with her early morning relief and moving to the sink now.
Opening the sink and rinsing her hands, before she splashes water onto her face, Kie then looks to the mirror, seeing a replica of herself gazing back.
'Regardless though, it seems today's last activity will be carried on without him. What a bummer, sigh.
But I guess I shouldn't be so greedy either. Tetsuya loves his work, and despite his repeated reasonings and him saying that, 'he is following this pro hero gig for his personal obligations as a Benihana,' I always knew and saw the spark he had behind his eyes whenever he did anything heroic. ' Kie thinks, by now having moved towards a towel and started on cleaning her face.
'He loves his work, it gives him a sort of drive, a desire to do things the heroic way.
In some aspects, he's quite similar to Retsu's desire and passion for battling, or maybe the other way around considering their age and stuff hehe~' Kie quietly muses in her mind, having cleaned up and now moving towards the bathroom's doors.
'By the way, speaking of her, where is Retsu? She's not in her futon and I didn't see nor hear her outside or here inside the bathroom. '
As Kie opens the door to the living room...
"Good morning, mother. I prepared some Jasmine Tea for us, knowing it's your favourite while also being calming for early mornings. " Kie hears, her eyes traveling to the middle of the room where the low table is, and she sees her younger replica, her daughter sitting there, her hands around a cup of steaming hot tea, her expression serene as she gazes at her mother.
"Retsu? Where were you hun? I didn't see you in bed and when I got out? " Kie asks, moving close and sitting beside her daughter, her hands extending to the other cup of tea on the table.
"Hm? Oh I was out, just taking a small stroll inside the inn. I wanted to stretch my legs as much as this cramped place can offer, seeing as its no where near as big as our house back at Hinode. " Retsu explains, her tone completely composed and her eyes closing as she takes a sip of her tea,
"Is that so? Well okay then I guess. " Kie raises a brow in half suspicion, not quite believing the words uttered by Retsu, but she doesn't pry on further, knowing fully of Retsu's thought preservation nature by now.
Kie takes a sip of her tea, before bringing it down, her expression changing to one of mild boredom, an expression that brings with it bad news as well, at least from her own perspective.
"By the way, your father texted me last night. He apologized profusely while also explaining he'd be absent from today's trip, which is a bummer honestly. I wanted to take some couple selfies with him today where we're going... " Kie says, commenting the last part with a touch of pouts on her cheeks, acting not quite her age at all at the moment.
Meanwhile, hearing the news, Retsu on the outside just gives out a serene nod, while inwardly she has some other thoughts,
'Hm? Texted us? But the blood I had on that pro hero pretender, –which I later extended to my father too, tells me that father didn't so much as twitch all night.
He was acting paralyzed the whole night, so how could he have texted mother? Maybe it was someone else? Maybe the villains who got his phone and did it? But I didn't feel such a movement from them last night either?
Well whatever the case, this whole fiasco is slowly moving out of hand. Like I said, if by tonight nothing major occurs, I'll be moving in on the scuffle too, this farse has gone on for long enough,
Finally it will be time to enjoy some appeasable activities. '
.
..
...
Hours pass, and breakfast time draws near, eliciting for the two sleepy heads of Mina and Himiko to wake up too, before they move through their morning activities of preparing for the day.
Around 9 in the morning, their breakfast arrives, and like always it is plenty and full of nutritious meals.
By 09:30, the group finish up with their breakfast, and for until around 10 they get ready, before they move out of the Inn and to their awaiting cab driver, having requested for one beforehand.
They move to enter the vehicle, its driver having helped in putting their baggage in the garage of the car, before he moved back to his driver's seat.
"Where to ma'am? " The cap driver asks, turning his gaze to Kie who's seated on the seat beside his, and the trio of kids in the back.
"To Fujiten Snow Resort, please. " Kie replies, smiling all the way through,
"Very well. It'll take around 15 minutes or so to get there, so buckle up kids. " The man, –someone who looks to be in his early thirties with normal brown hair and brown eyes, having also a set of horns protruding from his forehead, says as he starts the engine and begins taking the family towards one of Mt. Fuji's famous attractions,
The place where skiing and snow boarding is quite popular of an activity, and also the place where Retsu will encounter some 'formidable' opponents.
.
..
...
Meanwhile, outside of Mt. Fuji and currently at Tokyo, specifically at Seisho city and inside the HPSC's main headquarters,
Walking through the building's white, polished halls, Madame Kimmy currently has an impassive expression, her assistant but also direct executive, Nami tailing behind her as she recites through Kimmy's schedule for the day.
"Now that the meeting with the foreign exchanges are over, the Madame also has a scheduled meeting at 14:00 today with the prime minister concerning the active sanctioned status of our foreign operatives. The meeting will be starting at two with the arrival of a top brass from the prime minister's side. After that-"
"Nami." Before Nami can continue on further, she gets interrupted by her Madame, making her look up and towards her Madame's face, seeing her stoic expression, yet also her quirk allowing Nami to see the weathered face beneath.
"That's... Enough, Nami. " Kimmy intones, having arrived at her office and pushing the door to it open, moving inside with Nami tailing her and closing the door behind her.
"M-madame?... " Nami meekly asks, adjusting her glasses as she worriedly gazes towards the expression her Madame is making.
Kimmy goes around her mahogany table, before sitting on her soft yet polished wooden chair, bringing a hand up and starting to massage her forehead.
Seeing this, Nami quickly turns to the side, moving close to a coffee maker and starting on making her Madame a cup of coffee, no command or instructions needed.
Nami has been serving her Madame for the last few years now, roughly around 7 to 8 years to be exact. And in that timeframe, her attentive mind and vision has made it so that she can understand her Madame even through her most miniscule of expressions and motions.
Yet in these last few days, her Madame has been expressing characteristics so very unlike her usual self, so much so to the point that Nami has began on doubting if her Madame's health is okay or not.
Finishing with the coffee cup, Nami moves to place the cup before her Madame's table, before she turns to take a few steps back, but she is abruptly stopped in place due to an unusual tone she hears,
"Thank you very much, Nami. " She hears, her eyes widening as she turns towards her Madame, seeing her once in a few centuries contented, and at-eased expression that she's making, this leaving Nami breathless.
Don't get her wrong, Nami has heard plenty of Kimmy using words like "thank you" And such, but the unusual thing this time was the tone of voice with which Kimmy uttered it.
'Her tone... Is so unusual. ' Nami thinks in quiet wonder, honestly feeling the gratitudefilled tone she just heard.
She nevertheless, schools her expression with a light clear of the throat, and moves to bow down her form slightly. "It's nothing, Madame. "
Minutes pass in quiet silence, Nami having been standing there more out of habit than anything, revising through her tablet and looking through the schedules and reports that may need to be mentioned to her Madame.
Kimmy on the other hand, finishes with her cup of coffee, before she gives out a sigh and looks towards Nami, her thoughts spiraling.
'Dammit, ' Kimmy thinks, her brows creasing.
'I'm slowly getting attached to her, huh. ' she thinks, her eyes softening without her own input as she gazes at her executive's focused expression. Her eyes softening as if a mother, gazing towards her daughter and getting contended with seeing her achievements in life.
'Nami. You've lost your family in a villain accident when you were young, and later through your genius and attentive instincts, you were able to climb to the seat you are at right now.
For that I'm feeling quite proud of you, despite having no relations with you whatsoever. ' Kimmy quietly thinks,
This is a weakness of her powers. Whenever she gazes at someone else's life, her empathy acts up and she gets quite attached to them through seeing their lifetime.
Obviously this emotion doesn't get triggered towards those who has lead a dark life, only those of innocent nature and ones that make Kimmy quite envious of their life.
Yes, Kimmy gets empathetic yet also envious. Empathetic because seeing someone's life is as if she's lived beside them their whole life, and envious because she envies their simple lives.
Kimmy envies those who live a quiet, ignorant, and happy lives, quite in contrast to her own chaotic lifetime up until this point.
'And now, after living her life, I've involuntarily become quite attached to her, something which I know only will bring me more pain, seeing as to the future that awaits her... ' Kimmy thinks, looking towards Nami's focused expression, seeing her attentive mind occupied with her tablet, scrolling through it like the professional that she is.
'I envy you quite a lot, do you know that, Nami?
I envy you, but I also have come to care for you.
You have become to me a daughter I never asked, but one I cannot part with.
I knew of this outcome, I knew of these feelings the moment I decided on using my ability on you. I knew I would get attached to you,
Yet I still did it. Do you want to know why, Nami?
It is because I'm no longer capable of supressing myself.
In a few more years, I feel as if I'll be going out of control.
In a few years, my craving for emotions supressed will flood my being, and I no longer will be able to control myself from using my ability to bond with others.
I will no longer be able to live with supressing my emotions.
I will simply go... Crazy, if I haven't already. Heh. ' Kimmy smirks internally, something she hasn't done for quite a while now.
'At least... When I do go crazy... You won't be there to witness it... Daughter. '
.
..
...
Kawaguchiko, 12 am in the morning,
The group composing of Retsu, Mina, Himiko and Kie had arrived hours ago at the fujiten snow resort, here the atmosphere feeling like a quiet winter stage set beneath the towering presence of Mount Fuji, where wide, open slopes of clean white snow stretch gently across the landscape, framed by dark evergreen forests that dust over with frost; the air is crisp and bright, often carrying a soft blue sky that contrasts sharply with the snow's glow, while ski lifts glide steadily overhead, adding a slow, mechanical rhythm to the otherwise calm environment.
The resort blends a casual, welcoming charm with scenic grandeur, –colorful skiers and snowboarders carve lines into the slopes, while cozy lodge buildings with warm interiors and large windows offer views of Fuji's symmetrical peak rising in the distance, creating a balance between lively activity and serene, almost postcard-like stillness that defines the place's aesthetic.
Over all it is a place of grandeur, with many vouching to the statement based on their happy expressions as they play in the snow using activities reserved for the mentioned place.
The group of four, composing of an adult who acts more childishly than the three kids themselves whenever she spots a good, photogenic scene, a trio of girls who often more than naught bring back exotic stuff into the group, ranging from Himiko somehow being able to bring back an angrily pecking bird within her palms, to Mina spotting some deer to the side forests that often poke out their heads, looking towards the skiers and snow boarders as they ski through the snow covered slopes.
Retsu stays mostly out of it, choosing to quietly gaze on as her mother and friends are having fun, while also trying to distract her mind from her more irritated thoughts as she gazes on.
Finally though, after enjoying some lunch at a restaurant famous for its local delicacy, which is named appropriately as Mt. Fuji Curry, the family gets to the main reason as to why they're here.
Moving and entering a pseudo locker's room, they proceed to don their skiing gadgets, with Mina holding a cute, flower themed snow board under her armpit, Himiko fastening a pair of yellow and red colored ski shoes, with Kie doing the same except hers being a white color.
And finally among the trio...
"I uhhh... Seems to have forgotten to pick up my pair from the resort. " Retsu says, going through her backpack yet not finding her pair of skiing shoes at all.
"Eh? But that's so unlike you, to forget I mean. Re-re, are you sure you're okay? " Himiko asks, tilting her head slightly in quiet worry and wonder.
"T-this have never happened before... Retsu-chan, forgetting something? " Mina questions, as if the thought itself is absurd.
"W-well, this is something I didn't expect, especially not from you, honey. " Kie frowns too, looking at her daughter with worry.
Seeing their reactions, Retsu gives out a sigh,
"Sigh... It's not that big of a deal. Besides, there is a stall near here that sells skiing equipment.
Seeing as it's my fault for forgetting my stuff back at the inn, I'll go and buy myself a new pair, while you guys go on ahead and start, okay? " Retsu says, and in response Mina steps forward, the pink girl's expression quite worried,
"It's not because of the skiing equipment... Retsu-chan, are you sure you're 100% okay? I can come with you if you want? " She asks, before getting denied by the taller girl,
Shaking her head, Retsu turns to the exit of the room, beginning to walk on forward as she comments, "it's my fault for forgetting, and like I said, I'm okay, so there is no need to worry guys.
I'll be back in a moment, you guys go on ahead without me, I'll catch up to you once I get my equipment. "
"But still... " But Mina still tries to say something, before she gets interrupted duo to a shoulder pat courtesy of Himiko, who shakes her head to quietly get Mina back on track.
"Alright, just be careful dear. We'll be taking the ski lifts up the mountain slope, and will wait for you there at the top, get there as soon as you can okay? " Kie says finally,
"Okay, wait for me there then. " And Retsu replies, before she moves and exits the room.
"... "
A moment passes after her departure, before Kie gives out a sigh, "sigh... come on girls, let's go. "
"Hm... " The duo of Mina and Himiko give out nods, before the trio too leaves the room, moving to the lifts while their friend/daughter goes to buy herself a pair of skiing gadgets.
Meanwhile with the mentioned girl,
Arriving before the stall after a few minutes, Retsu then chooses a pair of red skiing boots, before paying up the price and turning to head back into the changing building.
Arriving back, she quickly changes her winter boots for the skiing ones, before putting it inside a locker assigned to her by the staff lady at the entrance, and turning around to go and join her mother and awaiting friends.
Though not long after she exits the cabin that she's confronted from behind by a pair of men with identical looks.
"Benihana Retsu. I'm only going to issue this warning once,
Either come with us, or bear the burden of the lives of everyone currently on this resort,
As well as the lives of a pro hero and your own father. "
The irritated girl, the over a millenium aged soul hears this warning, this command from behind her, and in that moment, as if a switch gets flipped, she snaps.
Benihana Retsu, the Benihana currently much weaker than Redvein, turns her gaze backwards and towards the pair of twins that's been prophesied of being stronger than the formerly mentioned pro hero when they fuse their power together amidst battle.
She turns her gaze, her ancient eyes falling on them, her quirk already in influence and having finished with analyzing their inner anatomy, the information regarding their powers already in the palm of the physically 12 years and 11 months old girl.
'Quirks, electrical power generation. One has a longer reach than the other, while the other has his physical strength amplified by using his quirk.
One is a long range type marksman, the other a close combat brawler. What nice capabilities.
Unfortunately for these two, I am not my father, and my capabilities make me the bane of all who is organic. '
"Come with you people, you say? But why would I do that?
Afterall,
The fun part is only starting now! ~"
'Finally! A good Fucking Battle! '
.
..
...
Author's Note/ Awwwwwwww shit~ all those bottled up frustrations finally snapped free, and all it took was a few simple sentences uttered by an enemy that Retsu has recognized.
On another note, we get a side mention of Kimmy's ability's inner affects that it has on her, along with a slight pov. of her mentality too.
Anyways! Next chapter, the blood goddess Benihana Retsu versus the twins of electro-masters!
