Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Dungeon Rewards

Chapter 39: Dungeon Rewards

A giant blue portal appears after Fate and his friends dropped to the ground due to exhaustion.

But before leaving the dungeon, The Hollow Bone Cemetery, and heading to the portal, Fate and the others received a reward after clearing the dungeon.

All of those who had contributed to clearing the dungeon were given rewards that the system had prepared.

While all of them were lying on the ground, six items appeared above them and then fell down toward them.

They all reacted quickly and managed to catch the items that fell from above them.

They all got up from the ground and checked their items.

Eugene suddenly started talking about dungeon rewards.

"It looks like all of you managed to get one item each. The only ones who can get dungeon rewards are those who contributed to clearing the dungeon."

"So that's how it works, huh…?" Fate said while checking the description of his reward.

Fate then suddenly had spark an idea in his mind.

(Wait…! This skill might be useful to me, especially for the mission that Father gave me—seeking and capturing spies from the Renegade Association in the Valhalla Academy…!)

After thinking about it, Fate decided to learn the skill Echo Listener.

After using the skill book and successfully learning the skill, he checked his Status Window.

Fate smiled as he saw that his level and stats had increased.

(My level and stats have increased more due to defeating the Grave Echo Brute. Since I have six stat points, I should put all of them into Endurance.)

Fate put all six of his stat points into the Endurance stat and managed to raise it to sixty-eight.

Endurance: 68 (Colorless)

Fate then thought back to the time when he hastily distributed all fifteen stat points when he reached level thirty-five.

(Earlier, when I reached level thirty-five, I quickly distributed all of my stat points evenly across all of my stats.)

(It was foolish of me, but the situation was dire.)

Fate let out a disappointed sigh.

Chloe noticed Fate and asked if he was alright.

"Are you alright? Did something happen?"

Fate brushed it off and said to Chloe,

"It's nothing. Don't worry about it."

Eugene called out for everyone's attention and said,

"Good work, everyone. We should all head back now and rest."

Everyone agreed and shouted in unison.

"Yes!"

After that, they all began leaving the dungeon through the portal.

One by one, they all got out of the dungeon. After a few minutes, the portal began to disintegrate into blue light and disappeared.

Fate looked at it in amazement.

While Fate was looking at the portal disappearing, Eugene spoke and said.

"Dungeon portals disappear after they are cleared."

Fate then asked a question.

"What will happen if there is still someone inside it? Will they also disappear alongside the dungeon?"

Eugene laughed before giving Fate an answer to his question.

"Hahaha… the dungeon will not disappear immediately after it's cleared. Everyone inside the dungeon must first get out, and after they all get out, the dungeon will disappear after a minute."

Fate listened to Eugene and kept what he said in mind.

The time was around five to six in the evening when they got out, as the sun was slowly disappearing over the horizon, meaning it was sunset.

Fate and everyone began walking back to the Kindspring Manor, traversing the Forest Of Hidden Beasts along their path.

The place was quite calming. There were no monsters in sight—only a flowing lake and a large number of trees.

When they all arrived at the Kindspring Manor, the sky was already dark.

After entering the mansion, Fate saw a tall and magnificent lady with two horns on her head that looked quite similar to Vale's.

The lady noticed Fate and walked toward him, her beautiful dress moving elegantly.

Fate saw the tall lady with horns approaching him and said to his friends,

"All of you should go first. I'll follow later."

Kyle, Isabelle, Lisa, Chloe, and Autumn nodded and began heading to Fate's room.

As Fate's friends went ahead, the tall lady with horns closed the distance between them.

Step. Step. Step.

Fate looked up at the lady.

The lady smiled and said while releasing a pressuring aura,

"So you're the one…"

Fate felt the pressure pushing his body down.

(Who… who is she…?)

Even though Fate was trying not to drop to the floor due to the crushing pressure, he locked his gaze on the lady in front of him.

The tall lady saw Fate's gaze and smiled.

The pressuring aura suddenly disappeared, and Fate felt his body return to normal.

Then suddenly—

The tall lady picked up Fate and hugged him like a stuffed toy.

"How cute you are…!" said the tall lady while hugging Fate tightly.

Fate was confused as to why the woman in front of him, whom he thought was a stranger, suddenly hugged him as if they had already met.

Fate then asked the tall lady who she was.

"M-ma'am? May I know who you are?"

There was a voice nearby. The tone was manly and quite familiar.

"That's my eldest sister…"

Fate heard the voice and immediately recognized it. He turned around and saw a familiar face.

Vale Kindspring.

Beside Vale was Isaac.

Fate then spoke while still being hugged like a toy.

"Father? This lady is your sister… then that means—"

Vale cut off what Fate was about to say.

"Yes. She is your aunt. Her name is Morgan Kindspring."

After hearing his aunt's name, Fate introduced himself.

"N-nice to meet you, ma'am. My name is Fate Kindspring."

Morgan finally let go of Fate after Vale told her to release him before he passed out from suffocation.

Although, Morgan doesn't looked like she wants to let go but she cooperated in the end.

Morgan took a closer look at Fate and noticed the bruises and dirt on him.

Morgan asked what happened to him.

"What happened to you, little one?"

Fate laughed awkwardly as Morgan leaned closer to his face.

Vale told Morgan that Fate and his friends had gone to a dungeon.

"Sigh… of course he would look like that. After all, he cleared a dungeon with his friends and couldn't even wash up because you suddenly hugged him like a gorilla."

Morgan became irritated because of Vale's attitude and the way he insulted her.

Morgan's smile twitched.

"Why you little—"

Morgan suddenly smacked Vale on the head when he turned back toward her.

Fate was surprised.

"F-father…!"

Isaac, who had been on the side the entire time, tried to stop Morgan from beating up Vale.

Isaac then suggested to Fate that he should probably wash up.

"Young master, it is best for you to wash up now and assist your friends as well."

Fate followed Isaac's suggestion and headed to his room.

While Isaac was left dealing with the two siblings.

On the way to his room, Fate met Eugene once again and called out to him.

"Oh… Eugene!"

Eugene noticed Fate and greeted him.

"Good evening, young master."

Fate greeted Eugene back and thanked him for assisting them earlier in the dungeon.

"Good evening too. By the way, thank you for helping me and my friends clear the dungeon and for teaching us a lot about dungeons."

Eugene was flattered and said it was nothing.

"It is nothing, young master. It is my duty to follow my lord's orders, after all."

Fate thanked Eugene again before going to his room.

"Once again, thank you for helping us."

Eugene slightly bent his body and bowed to Fate.

Fate continued on his way to his room.

When he arrived, Fate saw his friends lying on the floor.

"What are you all doing? Let's go and take a shower."

Kyle replied to Fate,

"The girls should take their baths first, and after they're done, we, the boys, will take ours."

Autumn agreed with Kyle.

"I agree. We wouldn't want all of us to shower at the same time, right? Cause that will be very inappropriate."

Fate thought about it for a second before agreeing.

"I suppose the girls should go first before us. Alright then."

Fate went to his desk and picked up a small silver bell. When rung, two maids would come to his room.

Fate rang the bell, and after a few seconds, a knock on the door was heard.

Knock. Knock.

The maid on the other side informed Fate of their arrival.

"Young master, it's us—the two maids you called. May we enter your room?"

Fate responded,

"Hang on. Isabelle, Chloe, Lisa, those two maids will guide you to the bathhouse, so you should all get your clothes or pajamas."

Isabelle, Chloe, and Lisa did as Fate said and quickly began preparing their clothes.

Fate went to the door and opened it.

The two maids saw Fate and greeted him.

"Good evening, young master."

Fate greeted them back and gave his order.

"Good evening to both of you. Could you assist three of my friends to the bathhouse, and after that, come back here to assist me and my remaining friends as well?"

The two maids obediently followed Fate's orders.

One of the maids then asked a very bold question.

"Young master, should we also assist you with taking your bath?"

Fate was confused at first, but after realizing what she meant, his face turned pink from embarrassment.

"What do you mean assist me with taking my— N-no, no, you don't have to…!"

The other maid sighed and smacked her colleague on the back of the head.

"I'm so sorry for my colleague, young master."

"It's alright… hahaha…" Fate said as his flushed face slowly faded.

Isabelle, Chloe, and Lisa were then escorted to the bathhouse by the two maids.

Fate closed the door and sat at his desk near the window.

After sitting down, Fate remembered his newly acquired skill.

(Oh, that's right… I haven't tested my new skill, have I?)

Fate then tested his new skill Echo Listener.

Echo Listener

Rarity: Uncommon

– A skill that heightens hearing and perception.

– Allows detection of disguised or mimicked voices.

Fate directed his skill toward the main room and heard Vale and Morgan arguing like two children while Isaac tried to calm them down.

Fate let out an awkward laugh as he listened to them quarrel.

On the floor, Kyle couldn't stop thinking about how Fate had unleashed a powerful wave using a sword he bought from a weapon shop.

Kyle slowly got up and walked toward Fate.

"Fate, about that sword… where do you think I can buy one like yours?"

Fate turned off his skill and looked at Kyle.

"Well… I found it in a pile of old and rusty swords in a weapon shop."

Kyle then asked for a favor.

"Can you help me find a weapon in that shop where you bought your blue sword?"

Fate thought about it and replied,

"I can help you find one, but I don't know if I can find something similar to mine."

"Don't worry about it," Kyle said.

Fate smiled.

"Then our next goal for this week is to go to the Capital!"
