Chapter 198 - Chapter 198-Controlled Entry

The car door closed.

Inside, it was quiet.

The engine noise was suppressed to a very low level, almost imperceptible.

Guang sat in the back seat.

Shun sat beside him.

Her condition had recovered.

Her complexion was normal.

Her breathing was steady.

There was no longer the weakness from the past few days.

She did not speak.

She simply looked out the window quietly.

Guang also remained silent.

His gaze rested outside as well.

The car was moving.

The route was steady.

No sharp turns.

No obvious evasive maneuvers.

It felt like advancing along a predetermined path.

There was no conversation in the front.

The driver did not look back.

The old man sat in the passenger seat.

His suit was neat.

His back straight.

No unnecessary movement.

His presence was faint,

but he was always there.

Never gone.

The vehicle gradually left the urban area.

Buildings began to thin out.

The road became singular.

The view on both sides opened up.

No commercial districts.

No densely populated areas.

They entered a controlled space.

Guang's gaze did not move.

But he was recording.

The path was singular.

Limited turns.

No obvious external access points.

This meant that after entering the area,

external connections had been deliberately compressed.

Shun's fingers moved slightly.

The motion was minimal.

It drew no attention.

Her gaze remained outside,

but the duration of her focus began to lengthen.

She wasn't looking at the scenery.

It was as if she was confirming something.

She spoke:

"Where… are we going?"

Her voice was quiet.

No strong emotional fluctuation.

But unstable.

Guang did not answer immediately.

He glanced at the front,

confirmed there was no reaction,

then said:

"To their base."

Shun did not respond.

Her gaze did not return.

After a moment, she asked again:

"Will we come back?"

This time the interval was shorter.

Her voice was softer.

Guang looked out the window.

He did not turn his head.

"For now, no."

No explanation.

No time given.

Shun's fingers tightened slightly,

then relaxed.

She did not ask further.

The car continued forward.

A silhouette appeared ahead.

Not an abrupt structure,

but gradually emerging.

On a distant elevation,

a castle.

Its structure was complete.

No signs of modern expansion.

The outer form retained its old-era shape.

No enhanced lighting.

No deliberate display.

It simply existed.

As if it had always been there.

Shun's gaze stopped.

This time, she did not look away immediately.

She looked at the castle.

Said nothing.

Her breathing slowed slightly.

Guang glanced once.

Did not linger.

Just confirmed.

The car did not head toward the castle.

Instead, it turned at a distance,

entering another road.

Shun spoke:

"Is that it?"

Guang said:

"Not now."

She did not ask again.

But her gaze stayed

until the castle was completely obscured.

The car moved on.

The road became more structured.

The surface was clean.

No debris.

No signs.

But it was clearly maintained.

The vehicle gradually entered a cluster of buildings.

Not a single structure,

but a composed area of multiple units.

Uniform height.

Minimalist style.

No decorative structures.

Each had a clear function.

No excess space.

The car stopped

in front of a six-story building.

The entrance was not conspicuous.

No signage.

No reception.

But someone was inside.

Standing upright.

Not to welcome.

To verify.

The door opened.

The driver exited first.

Walked to the rear.

Opened the door.

Precise movements.

No unnecessary words.

Guang stepped out.

Shun followed.

Her steps were fine,

but half a beat slower than usual.

The old man spoke:

"Please follow me."

His tone was steady.

Words concise.

Basic courtesy.

Nothing more.

He did not look back.

Walked straight toward the entrance.

Guang followed.

Shun stayed at his side.

She did not hold him,

but kept closer than usual.

They entered the building.

The interior was spacious.

The first floor was not divided.

The view extended through.

To the left was an open area.

Tables and chairs arranged neatly.

People were eating.

Voices were low.

No conversation spilled over.

To the right was a corridor.

People moved back and forth.

A steady rhythm.

No stopping.

No gathering.

No one looked at them.

As if their presence was default.

Shun's steps paused for a moment.

Not stopping,

just a slight delay.

She looked around,

then said softly:

"They're not looking at us."

Guang said:

"That means we're not variables."

Shun did not fully understand,

but she nodded.

Did not look around again.

The old man did not stop.

He headed straight to the elevator.

Before entering, he said:

"This is the operational zone."

Same steady tone.

No elaboration.

The elevator doors opened.

Clean inside.

No extra buttons.

Only numbered ones.

The old man pressed a key.

"Fifth floor."

The elevator ascended.

No sound prompts.

Shun glanced at the buttons,

then asked:

"There's no fourth floor?"

Guang said:

"In East Asian contexts, '4' is considered an unstable number."

Shun nodded.

The old man added:

"The fourth floor is not set, adapted for Eastern visitors."

The elevator stopped.

Doors opened.

The corridor was quieter than the first floor.

The ground was clean.

No echoing footsteps.

People moved,

but with clear spacing.

No gathering.

No conversation.

The old man walked ahead,

stopped at a door.

It opened automatically.

They entered.

The space was complete.

No extra decoration.

Like a standard configuration.

The old man turned:

"This is a temporary arrangement."

"This floor is for reception."

"You will not be disturbed."

Shun looked at the room,

then asked:

"Are we going to stay here?"

Guang said:

"For now."

The old man added:

"If you need anything, you may request it."

Polite tone.

No extension.

He left.

The door closed.

Silence.

Shun stood there.

Did not sit immediately.

She looked at the door,

then at the window,

then at Guang:

"Will they keep watching us?"

Guang did not answer immediately.

He looked at the ceiling corner,

then at the structure of the door.

"They will."

Shun's breathing paused for a moment.

No panic.

But her fingers tightened again.

She walked to the side and sat down.

Her voice lower:

"Then what… can we do?"

Guang sat down.

There was distance between them,

but on the same side.

"Act according to their rules."

Shun looked at him:

"What if they don't tell us the rules?"

"Then don't move."

Silence.

After a while, she asked:

"Aren't you worried?"

Guang looked at her.

Did not avoid.

"Worry doesn't change the result."

A pause.

"Judgment does."

Shun looked at him.

Said nothing more.

She gradually relaxed.

Her body no longer tense.

She leaned back.

Closed her eyes.

Not sleeping.

Just calming herself.

Guang said nothing further.

He stood up.

Walked to the window.

Outside, the structure was clear.

Staff moved in order.

No one stopped.

No one observed them.

Everything was operating.

Shun spoke behind him:

"Brother."

He did not turn:

"What is it?"

She paused, then said:

"As long as you're here… it'll be fine, right?"

Guang did not answer immediately.

He looked outside.

Confirmed routes.

Confirmed rhythm.

Confirmed environment.

"Right now, yes."

Not a promise.

A judgment.

Shun nodded.

Said nothing more.

The room fell silent again.

They were not disturbed.

Nor guided.

Just placed here.

At the edge of the system.

Waiting for the next step.

And that castle

still remained in the distance.
