Chapter 27 - CHAPTER-26 "AMY'S CUNNING PLOY"

The midnight air grew cold as Leo was rushed into the emergency wing of the very same hospital, his body battered from the violent plunge off the bridge.

In the higher floors, Leah felt her spiritual essence beginning to fade into thin air, her consciousness dissolving into the vast sky.

The echoing voice of the divine warning vibrated through her dying soul, reminding her of the heavy cosmic laws she had violated.

"If you use your newly found power beyond your limit and deep strength, you will face consequences that will even make your soul disappear."

"It could kill your soul entirely, shattering the vital connection between your spirit and your physical body."

As her soul stretched thin toward the heavens, Leah's physical body on the hospital bed began to convulse with sudden, agonizing pain.

Her heart rate monitor began to beep erratically, the numbers spiking to dangerous levels before plunging downward.

Nurse Giva walked into the special ward room to perform her routine check, and her eyes widened in absolute horror at the crashing monitors.

Leah was gasping for air, her chest heaving as she struggled to take a single breath under the oxygen mask.

"DOCTOR!" Giva shouted, dropping the medicine tray from her hands, sending glass vials shattering across the floor.

The doctor burst into the room, instantly checking Leah's fading pulse with pressed fingers.

"Check her blood pressure immediately," the doctor commanded, his voice tight. "And prepare the defibrillator for electric shock treatment!"

Giva looked at the doctor, her hands trembling as she adjusted the machine.

"Doctor, this may be a massive risk to her life," Giva pleaded.

"The patient is already far too weak, and her internal injuries haven't even begun to heal yet."

"We have already tried giving her electric shock treatment multiple times before, and using the same method now will completely weaken Leah's fragile body."

The doctor adjusted the voltage dials, his expression grim and resolute.

"There is no other option left to us now," the doctor countered in a sharp tone.

"WE HAVE TO TAKE THIS RISK TO SAVE THE PATIENT, OR ELSE SHE WILL DIE IN FRONT OF US!"

The doctor pressed the paddles hard against Leah's chest and delivered the powerful electric shock, forcing her body to arch violently off the mattress.

Leah took two heavy, ragged breaths as her drifting soul was pulled back into the physical shell for a fleeting second.

With the absolute last ounce of her physical energy, her lips parted beneath the plastic mask to whisper a single name.

"Leo..."

The monitor's flat tone broke, the heart rate fluctuating wildly before settling back into a weak but stable rhythm.

The temporary anchor snapped, and Leah's soul drifted out of her body once again, hovering near the ceiling.

She looked down at her pale, translucent hands, realizing her spiritual form was becoming faint and deeply depleted.

The doctor breathed a sigh of relief, turning to the nurse as he noted the stabilized vitals.

"Keep her under strict and special observation, Nurse," the doctor instructed softly.

"Making a patient survive in this condition is proving to be nearly impossible."

Giva looked down at Leah's still form, tears pooling in her eyes as she witnessed the young girl's relentless suffering.

"Is there any other chance for her recovery, doctor?" Giva asked in a broken whisper.

"At this stage, it depends entirely on God and Leah's own willpower," the doctor replied, shaking his head.

"Her vitals were surprisingly good up until yesterday, but now, without explanation, her system is failing completely."

"If this downward trend continues like this, she cannot survive for more than six months."

The doctor looked at the chart one final time before walking toward the exit.

"Leah's case is a profound challenge to each and every doctor present in this facility."

"Take utmost care of Leah," he added before stepping out into the corridor.

Nurse Giva stepped closer to the bed, gently holding Leah's cold, unmoving hand as a tear fell onto the pristine white sheets.

"I wish you would come out of this coma very soon, Leah, and finally live the good life you deserve," Giva cried softly.

Wiping her eyes, the emotional nurse turned around and walked out of the quiet isolation room.

Leah's soul hovered silently above, watching her own physical frame sleeping in a deceptive peace.

A wave of profound spiritual agony ripped through her essence, and she wept invisible tears as the divine truth echoed in her mind once more.

"YOU HAVE TO BEAR A HEAVY BURDEN AND GIVE A SEVERE SACRIFICE IF YOU WISH TO SAVE HIS LIFE."

"THAT SACRIFICE WILL EVENTUALLY COST YOU YOUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE, LEAH."

As she knelt in the empty air, she envisioned the two people who held her entire world together—Kayla and Leo.

She thought of Leo's grand life, an existence filled with immense happiness, hope, joy, and a brilliant musical career.

He was a man with millions of dedicated fans who would gladly die for his songs and his voice.

She remembered the fierce protection he had offered her, saving her life, her honor, and her dignity from the evil intentions of Easton.

The weight of her love overwhelmed her, and Leah's spirit collapsed onto its knees in mid-air.

"Leo," she cried out into the emptiness.

Down in the emergency ward, Leo was wheeled into a treatment room, his skin covered in bruises and cuts from the river escape.

He remained completely unconscious as a team of physicians worked quickly to bandage his wounds and assess the trauma.

Meanwhile, in a nearby diagnostic room, a separate doctor checked the pulse and test results of Kayla, who was still resting from her ordeal.

The physician looked over the medical chart, turning to his assistant with a serious expression.

"Kayla is pregnant," the doctor revealed in a quiet tone.

"I don't think she has any knowledge of this yet, and her physical state is remarkably weak right now."

"She needs to completely eliminate all emotional stress and trauma for the sake of the baby's survival."

The silent halls of the hospital were suddenly shattered as Leo's parents arrived, having received the urgent emergency call from the staff.

Richard and Isabella rushed through the double doors of the ward, their faces pale with terror.

Isabella collapsed toward her son's bedside, completely shattered at the sight of Leo lying helpless among the medical equipment.

Looking at his bandages, a terrifying memory gripped her heart, and she recalled the exact warning of the family astrologist.

"Leo will face a multitude of grave dangers in his future for a period extending over six months."

"His greatest threat will come accompanied by fire."

"He needs to be exceptionally careful during this dark period."

Isabella broke down into bitter tears, unable to contain the agonizing fear gripping her soul as a mother.

Tina stepped forward immediately, wrapping her arms around Isabella to offer what little comfort she could provide.

Amy walked slowly toward Richard, her face a mask of deep sorrow as she threw her arms around him in a tight embrace.

"It is so incredibly sad, Uncle," Amy sobbed against his shoulder.

"I was the one who admitted him to the hospital, and I saved his life from that horrific accident."

"If I hadn't been traveling along that exact same route tonight, Leo would have died on that bridge."

"Why is Leo constantly facing all these terrible dangers?"

"If it were within my power, I would beg God to transfer all those threats to me just so Leo could live his life in absolute peace."

Amy continued to weep loudly on Richard's shoulder, her voice trembling with emotion.

Richard held her, feeling the raw pain and desperation in her words, though his mind remained sharp.

The lead surgeon stepped out of the intensive care unit, pulling off his surgical mask as he approached the family.

"I am truly sorry for the scare, Sir, and I know you are the Chairman of this very institution," the doctor said respectfully to Richard.

"We did not expect Leo to be involved in such a severe accident, but I am pleased to inform you that he is officially out of danger."

"However, his body has suffered significant trauma, and he requires absolute rest."

Richard, Isabella, and Tina let out a collective breath of immense relief, nodding toward the physician.

"Thank you, Doctor," Richard breathed, his posture relaxing slightly.

Amy wiped her tears quickly, a bright smile appearing on her face as she clapped her hands together.

"I am so happy to hear that, finally," Amy said, her tone dripping with devotion.

"I will personally ensure that Leo never has to face any sort of danger ever again."

Richard's gaze hardened, a deep seed of suspicion taking root in his mind as he analyzed her sudden appearance.

He stepped back slightly, looking down at her with a piercing, analytical stare.

"What exactly are you doing here tonight, Amy?" Richard asked, his voice low and calculating.

"I am well aware that you had a major badminton competition scheduled for this evening."

"Yet, instead of being at the tournament, you are present in this hospital."

Amy shifted uncomfortably under his intense gaze, her smile faltering for a fraction of a second.

"I came to meet Leo the moment I discovered he had traveled out here for some highly important work," she explained smoothly.

"Why?" Richard pressed, his tone growing colder and more demanding.

"Why would you want to meet Leo under such circumstances anyway?"

"Leo has already made it abundantly clear to everyone that he loves someone else entirely—a girl named Elsa."

Richard's suspicious eyes locked onto Amy, refusing to let her look away.

Amy let out a soft sigh, her expression turning into one of deep family embarrassment and regret.

"I felt incredibly bad because of the actions of my own family, Uncle," Amy revealed, lowering her eyes.

"I had no idea my sister would stoop so low, and while I knew she was greedy, I never imagined she could be so cunning and malicious."

"I only came to find Leo tonight so I could look him in the eye and say sorry for everything, Uncle."

Richard stared at her, his expression remaining entirely unreadable and severe.

"But that explanation does not make any logical sense, Amy," Richard countered directly.

The suspicion in his eyes intensified, his sharp mind refusing to accept her convenient story.

Amy stepped closer, grabbing Richard's hand as she looked up at him with absolute intensity.

"Uncle, you must believe me; I literally risked my own life tonight to pull Leo out of that wreckage and save him."

"I did it because Leo's life and his ultimate well-being are far more important to me than anything else in this world."

Richard pulled his hand back slightly, his voice dropping into a demanding whisper.

"Why is my son's life so incredibly important to you, Amy?"

Amy looked directly into the Chairman's eyes, her voice steady and filled with a fierce confession.

"Because I love Leo very much."
