Chapter 188 - CHAPTER 188

The sound of impact echoed down the corridor.

The outer door that had held firm was now breached.

Heavy footsteps entered without hesitation.

Fast.

Coordinated.

And clear.

They did not come to threaten.

They came to finish this.

At the end of the corridor, Adrian Blackwood stood motionless.

His posture rigid.

His gaze cold.

Beside him, Leonard Graves was ready.

A faint smile played on his lips.

"I have been waiting a long time for this part," he muttered.

A few meters behind them, Daniel stood in front of the room door.

His position was clear.

He would not retreat.

He would not let anyone pass.

The enemy footsteps drew closer.

Their silhouettes appeared at the end of the hall.

More numerous than expected.

Better organized.

Leonard exhaled softly.

"He sent a serious team."

Adrian did not answer.

His eyes were calculating.

Distance.

Numbers.

Timing.

The next second.

The attack began.

Without warning.

Without a word.

One man rushed forward first.

Adrian moved.

Fast.

The first strike took him down instantly.

The body crashed to the floor.

Leonard was already moving on the other side.

Blow after blow was unleashed.

Efficient.

Precise.

Yet the number of opponents did not dwindle.

They kept advancing.

Without hesitation.

Without fear.

The corridor turned into a battlefield.

Sounds of impact.

Footsteps.

Heavy breathing.

Everything mixed together.

But one thing was clear.

They were not retreating.

Not even a single step.

Inside the room, Sophia heard it all.

Every sound.

Every collision.

Every second.

Her hands gripped the blanket.

Yet her face remained calm.

She did not panic.

She did not become hysterical.

But her heart beat faster.

Because she knew.

All of this.

Was for her.

Back in the corridor.

Adrian took down another opponent.

His breathing remained steady.

His movements did not slow.

But the sheer number of enemies began to press in.

Leonard retreated half a step.

"This isn't going to stop."

Adrian answered without turning his head.

"It doesn't need to."

Leonard smirked.

"Good. I wasn't planning on stopping either."

Suddenly.

Another sound was heard.

Heavier.

More rhythmic.

New footsteps.

Coming from behind the enemy lines.

Everyone paused for a moment.

Even their opponents.

Because someone was walking through the ranks.

Calmly.

Unrushed.

And everyone made way.

Arman Virelli.

He stopped a few meters from Adrian.

His expression was calm.

As if this were not a battlefield.

"So this is it," he said softly.

Leonard clicked his tongue.

"Finally showing yourself."

Arman did not look away.

His eyes remained fixed on Adrian.

"Faster than I expected."

Adrian did not reply.

But his aura shifted.

Sharper.

More dangerous.

Arman stepped slightly closer.

His movements light.

Fearless.

"You boys have made quite a mess."

His tone was casual.

Yet heavy with meaning.

Adrian finally spoke.

"Finish it."

Arman smiled faintly.

"Straight to the point. I like that."

He paused.

Then looked toward the room door behind Daniel.

"She is inside."

Silence fell.

Heavier than before.

Daniel clenched his fists.

His position unchanged.

But his gaze grew sharper.

"No one gets in."

Arman glanced at him briefly.

"Nice confidence."

He turned back to Adrian.

"But it is not enough."

In a single second.

Everything moved again.

Faster.

More brutal.

Adrian charged directly at Arman.

But two men blocked his path.

He took them down.

Yet Arman had already retreated half a step.

Leonard held the other flank.

But the pressure was mounting.

The enemies did not stop.

They kept coming.

Kept pushing.

Inside the room.

Sophia tried to sit up straighter.

Her breathing was slightly uneven.

But her eyes were sharp.

She had heard the name.

Arman.

Which meant.

This had reached the core.

She closed her eyes for a moment.

Regulating her breath.

Steeling herself.

Because she knew.

This was not over.

Outside.

Adrian finally broke through the line.

He stood directly in front of Arman.

Only a few steps apart.

Their gazes locked.

No words needed.

Because both knew.

This was no ordinary encounter.

This was the collision of two control centers.

Arman smiled faintly.

"You are more interesting than they say."

Adrian did not react.

He attacked immediately.

Fast.

Hard.

Arman blocked.

But was pushed back.

His expression changed slightly.

More serious.

Their fight unfolded rapidly.

Faster than the rest.

Every movement was calculated.

Nothing wasted.

Nothing hesitant.

Yet beneath it all.

There was something else.

Pressure.

Because whoever fell.

Would open the way.

Leonard was still holding the other side.

But he was beginning to be pushed back.

There were simply too many opponents.

Daniel remained at his post.

But he knew.

If this line crumbled.

It was all over.

In the midst of the battle.

Arman stepped back slightly.

Creating distance.

His eyes narrowed.

"You are not just strong."

He paused briefly.

"You are dangerous."

Adrian stepped forward.

"I told you."

His voice was cold.

"This ends here."

But Arman did not look threatened.

Instead, he smiled.

More deeply.

"Not today."

A brief silence.

Then.

He raised his hand slightly.

A small signal.

But it was enough.

In an instant.

Smoke began to fill the corridor.

Fast.

Thick.

Visibility was gone.

Leonard cursed.

"Damn it."

Adrian remained standing.

But he could see nothing.

The sound of footsteps began to fade.

Fast.

Orderly.

A few seconds later.

The smoke began to clear.

The corridor was visible again.

Empty.

They.

Were gone.

Leonard let out a long breath.

"He always runs away."

Daniel was still standing in front of the door.

His body tense.

But he did not move.

Adrian stared toward the empty end of the corridor.

His eyes were cold.

But deeper than before.

"Not running away."

He said softly.

"They were just confirming something."

Leonard raised an eyebrow.

"What."

Adrian turned toward the room door.

His expression grew more serious.

"That we will do anything to protect her."

Silence fell.

And everyone understood.

This was not an attack to win.

This.

Was a test.

Inside the room.

Sophia opened her eyes.

Her breathing was still heavy.

But she could feel it.

A change.

This game.

Was no longer just about strategy.

It was about limits.

How far they were willing to go.

And who would break first.

She looked at the door.

And in the silence.

She knew.

This was only the beginning of something far greater.

The smoke faded slowly.

A sharp, lingering scent still hung in the air.

The corridor was clear again.

But the atmosphere had changed.

Quieter.

Heavier.

As if something invisible still remained there.

Leonard Graves lowered his hands slowly.

His breathing was somewhat labored.

"We just let them go like that," he muttered.

His voice sounded annoyed.

Adrian Blackwood remained standing in place.

His gaze still fixed on the empty end of the hall.

"If we chase, we lose our position."

The answer was short.

But sufficient.

Leonard clicked his tongue softly.

"And if we stay, they will come back."

Adrian did not deny it.

"Yes."

Behind them, Daniel finally relaxed his shoulders slightly.

But he stayed in front of the door.

He did not move.

Did not step away.

As if his very body refused to let its guard down.

"They didn't even try to get in," he said quietly.

Adrian turned slightly.

"That was never their goal."

Daniel frowned.

"Then what was it."

Adrian answered without hesitation.

"Testing us."

Silence fell again.

But this time its meaning was clear.

Everything that had just happened was not a full-scale assault.

It was merely a measurement.

An assessment.

Observing reactions.

Determining the next move.

Leonard sighed deeply.

"I hate being an experiment."

The room door opened slowly.

Sophia stood there.

Her body was still weak.

Yet she stepped out.

Her eyes immediately scanned the corridor.

Assessing the situation.

"He came personally," she said softly.

Adrian immediately approached.

"I told you to stay inside."

His tone was firmer than before.

But Sophia did not back down.

"I needed to see."

Their eyes met.

For several seconds.

No words spoken.

But it was enough to show that neither would yield completely.

Sophia stepped forward slightly.

Slowly.

But surely.

She looked at the remnants of the battle.

Signs of impact.

Where they had stood.

And the empty space at the end of the corridor.

"Arman did not come to attack," she continued.

Daniel nodded.

"He had the chance."

Leonard added.

"And he didn't take it."

Sophia stared straight ahead.

"Because he didn't need to."

Silence descended once more.

Deeper.

Because those words carried another meaning.

If the enemy did not need to strike now.

It meant they held something bigger.

Something more certain.

Adrian watched Sophia.

Longer than usual.

"You need to go back inside."

This time his voice was lower.

But still firm.

Sophia did not answer immediately.

But this time she did not argue.

She turned slowly.

Walking back into the room.

Moments later.

They were all inside again.

The door closed.

The atmosphere was somewhat more controlled.

But the tension did not vanish.

Daniel opened his laptop again.

His fingers moved swiftly.

"I will recheck all routes."

Leonard sat on a chair.

But his body remained alert.

"If he was just testing, that means the next move will be bigger."

Adrian stood near the window.

His gaze distant.

But his focus was clear.

"He knows our limits now."

Sophia leaned against the bed.

Her eyes returned to the screen.

"I am not sure."

Everyone turned.

Sophia continued.

"He wasn't just looking at our limits."

She paused.

"He was showing his own."

Daniel frowned.

"What do you mean."

Sophia looked straight ahead.

"He could have come this far."

Silence.

Leonard exhaled.

"And he chose not to finish it."

Sophia nodded.

"Meaning he is in no rush."

Adrian closed his eyes for a moment.

Processing.

Recalculating.

If the enemy was not in a hurry.

It meant they were in control.

And that meant one thing.

They had to seize that control.

As fast as possible.

Suddenly Daniel stopped typing.

His expression changed.

"There is something else."

Everyone focused immediately.

"What."

Daniel rotated the screen.

New data appeared.

Another movement.

But this time.

Not from the previous route.

"This is different," he said softly.

Sophia narrowed her eyes.

"Not Arman."

Daniel nodded.

"This is another path."

Leonard raised an eyebrow.

"So he has more than one hand to play."

Sophia breathed in slowly.

"Not one."

She stared at the screen.

"Many."

Silence fell again.

But this time it was colder.

Heavier.

Because it meant.

They were not just fighting one target.

They were fighting a system.

A network.

A structure larger than they had imagined.

Adrian looked at the screen.

His eyes sharp.

"Focus remains."

Daniel turned.

"On Arman."

Adrian nodded.

"He is still the key."

Leonard smirked slightly.

"Then let us break the key."

Sophia did not speak immediately.

She looked at the screen.

Longer.

Deeper.

Because now she was beginning to see the larger pattern.

And that pattern.

Was not simple.

It would not end quickly.

But she also knew.

They had come too far to turn back.

She lifted her gaze.

Looking at Adrian.

"We do not have much time."

Adrian met her eyes.

"We never did."

The final silence fell.

But this time.

There was no doubt.

No hesitation.

Only one thing remained.

Decision.

To move forward.

No matter the cost.

Because this game.

Had already crossed ordinary boundaries.

And no one would walk away unscathed.
