"This actually helps our position," Raphael said once he'd finished the communications. "It proves the conspiracy wasn't just about legal maneuvering. It was about a faction leader willing to commit mass murder to preserve power. That's going to make it much harder for any old guard sympathizers to defend the conspiracy or Corvus's actions."
"But it also means they're desperate now," Silas said quietly. "Desperate people make unpredictable moves. Corvus tried to kill Council members. What's to stop his allies from trying something similar?"
"Nothing," Raphael said grimly. "Which is why security is being increased throughout the Court. Which is why Elder Meridian has authorized full investigation into everyone connected to the conspiracy."
