Half a month later, the Tang Sect headquarters was dressed for celebration.
Lanterns lined the stone paths. Streamers fluttered above the square. Newly forged banners bearing the merged insignia snapped in the wind, loud and restless, as if trying to announce a rebirth that had not yet been accepted by fate.
When Ning Fengzhi arrived in the VIP seating with Chen Xin, Gold Crocodile Douluo of Spirit Hall was already present.
"School Master Ning," Gold Crocodile said with a polite smile, cupping his hands. "You came at just the right time. Today's ceremony… will be quite a spectacle."
Spirit Hall still required Ning Fengzhi's cooperation to restrain the expanding influence of Spirit Beasts. Courtesy was not optional.
Ning Fengzhi returned the gesture smoothly. "Elder Golden Crocodile is too kind. The Tang Sect's merger is a joyous occasion—naturally, it should be lively."
They exchanged a few measured words and took their seats.
When the auspicious hour arrived, the crowd gradually quieted.
Tang San emerged from the inner hall.
He wore ceremonial robes embroidered with complex patterns, the fabric heavy with symbolism and intent. Xiao Wu followed half a step behind him, her posture composed, her expression gentle.
Tang San's face was calm—almost serene—but when his gaze swept across the square, a trace of pride leaked through despite his control.
Ning Fengzhi noticed immediately.
Those eyes.
The same ones Tang Hao once had. The same arrogance. The same instinctive assumption that everyone below existed only to be stepped on.
Tang San smiled and spoke clearly, his voice carrying effortlessly.
"Thank you, elders and guests, for bearing witness. Today, the merger of the Tang Sect and the Clear Sky Sect marks a historic turning point for the Spirit Master world."
"A turning point?"
A cold female voice cut through the ceremony like a blade.
The crowd parted instinctively.
Tang Yuehua stepped forward.
She wore plain white mourning clothes. White flowers were pinned into her hair. In her hands were several recording stones, their surfaces faintly glowing.
The moment Tang San saw her, his expression cracked.
Impossible.
She had been sealed away. Guarded. Watched. There were Tang Sect disciples stationed at every perimeter of the square.
And yet—there she stood.
Beside him, Xiao Wu stiffened and clutched his sleeve.
From the VIP section, Ning Fengzhi's lips curved faintly, as if he were merely observing a play unfold exactly as expected.
"Aunt," Tang San said, forcing composure back into his voice, "what do you mean by that?"
Tang Yuehua answered by activating a recording stone.
Light unfolded in the air.
Tang Xiao appeared—face haggard, eyes bloodshot, voice hoarse but unmistakable.
"Your plan is to kill the Sect Master first, then eliminate Tang Wei. You intend to annex the Clear Sky Sect and seize all its resources."
The square exploded into noise.
Tang San immediately stepped forward. "This is my adoptive father's misunderstanding! His kindness toward me is heavier than a mountain—how could I possibly—"
The second recording stone activated.
This time, Tang Wei and Tang Xiao's conversation filled the air. Poisoning. Conspiracy. Tang San's name spoken clearly.
Then the scene shifted.
Tang Wei poisoning Tang Lie.
Tang San standing beside him.
Negotiation. Agreement. Exploitation of chaos to seize Haotian Academy.
The color drained from Tang San's face.
Xiao Wu rushed forward, spreading her arms in front of him, voice shaking. "These are all fabricated! Third Brother would never—"
"The evidence is complete," Tang Yuehua said coldly. "And you still defend him?"
She looked directly at Tang San.
"You poisoned your elders. Betrayed your adoptive father. For ambition alone. What right do you have to stand here?"
The former Clear Sky Sect disciples erupted first.
"Despicable traitor!"
"You're not fit to lead the Sect!"
The shouts spread like fire. Other factions joined in. Fury rolled across the square in waves.
No one in the VIP section intervened.
The Spirit Beasts watched. Spirit Hall observed. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School remained silent.
Tang San looked around wildly.
No help was coming.
Something in him snapped.
He threw back his head and laughed.
"So what if I did it?!"
Madness gleamed in his eyes as he stepped forward.
"Tang Xiao was indecisive. Tang Lie reckless. Tang Wei stubborn. None of them deserved to lead!"
He pointed at himself.
"Only I—Tang San! Twin top-tier Spirits! Innate full spirit power! I am the future of the Sect!"
Shock rippled even among the Shrek group.
Dai Mubai took a step back.
Ma Hongjun's face went white.
Flender felt the ground tilt beneath his feet.
He had questioned Tang San privately before. Tang San had denied everything—firmly, convincingly. With Ma Hongjun and others pressing for trust, Flender and Oscar had buried their doubts.
Now, the pit had closed.
The Ten Thousand Demon King snorted.
A crushing spiritual force descended.
Tang San was slammed into the platform, stone cracking beneath him.
Xiao Wu screamed and threw herself forward, resisting the pressure with her body.
"Third Brother is being framed!"
Hime's eyes turned glacial.
"You still protect him?"
Xiao Wu's vision reddened.
"You despicable creatures! Twisting truth and lies! Third Brother has sacrificed everything—!"
"Beasts," she spat.
Kiba's gaze sharpened. His hand lifted.
A violent pressure crashed down.
Xiao Wu died instantly.
Tang San's pupils contracted violently.
Air was crushed from his lungs. Blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.
"No—this is impossible—" he rasped, bones groaning. "I am the Son of Destiny! Twin Spirits! A genius unseen for ten thousand years!"
Xiao Wu's body lay nearby, pink hair soaked dark.
Pain flickered through Tang San's eyes—then vanished beneath rage.
"You ants dare—!"
Memories shattered.
Mysterious Heaven Skill. Hidden Weapons. All his reliance. All meaningless.
The eyes watching him—Ning Fengzhi's calculation, the Spirit Beasts' contempt, Gold Crocodile's indifference, his companions' retreat—broke him completely.
"You understand nothing!" he screamed.
The pressure increased.
His spine twisted. Vision darkened.
Still, he laughed.
"I am the god of this continent—"
A blue figure appeared before him.
Ah Yin.
There was no hatred in her eyes. Only sorrow.
The pressure intensified once more.
Tang San's head dropped.
Dead.
The square fell silent.
Tang Yuehua stepped forward again and activated the final recording stone.
Her own confession played.
Instigation. Manipulation. Tang Wei's promise regarding Tang Hao's remains.
She turned calmly to Gold Crocodile Douluo.
"Tang Xiao once swore that if anyone stirred trouble over Tang Hao again, he would die to atone. I caused this destruction. Does it count?"
Gold Crocodile paused, then nodded. "It does."
Tang Yuehua smiled.
She drew a dagger and plunged it into her heart.
"Tang Xiao… I'll wait for you."
Her body fell beside Tang San and Xiao Wu.
Gold Crocodile's voice echoed coldly.
"Spirit Hall hereby issues a bounty on Tang Xiao. Dead or alive."
Before the shock could settle, Hime stepped forward.
"With the Tang Sect Master and managing Elder dead, Shrek Academy should be taken over by us."
Flender stepped forward desperately.
"I am the dean—"
Documents slammed onto the platform.
Ma Hongjun. Embezzlement. Favoritism.
Flender's face went ashen.
The Ten Thousand Demon King spoke evenly.
"You are relieved of duty."
Ma Hongjun tried to take the blame. Flender silenced him and confessed.
"Effective immediately," the Ten Thousand Demon King announced, "Shrek Academy is renamed Beast God Academy."
Ning Fengzhi stepped in smoothly, acknowledging the decision—then reminded them of freedom of choice.
Hime agreed.
That night, Shrek's remnants gathered in silence.
Debts. Ruin. Disgrace.
Then Oscar stood.
"I will rebuild Shrek Academy."
Silence broke.
Hope returned.
Three days later, they left for Soto City.
Oscar would be dean.
At Beast God Academy, Hime watched teachers and students leave.
Kiba sighed.
"Humans are cunning."
