Carried by the cloud of flame, the chunk of earth rose slowly into the air.
The quicker-reacting besiegers, though panicked, immediately scrambled to jump off the rising platform from the edges before it got too high.
However, even after escaping the ascending ground, many of them sat dazed on the ground, unable to get up, watching helplessly as the massive slab of earth rose like an inverted mountain.
Beneath the jagged dirt, there were no advanced particle thrusters, no incomprehensibly high-tech anti-gravity devices.
Not even the scientifically dubious giant propellers of a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier were visible.
Just ordinary, swirling flame clouds, lifting this massive piece of land into the sky.
"What... sorcery is this..."
Everyone stared at the sky, dumbfounded.
Only Luca, who was rising with the ground, seemed dissatisfied with the barrier that still hadn't disappeared.
Hmm? It's not externally powered? Did that bastard Tony hook up a bunch of Arc Reactors to this thing as batteries?
Luca, who had thought lifting the ground would sever external power lines and dismantle the barrier, felt helpless again.
But he didn't get discouraged. Instead, he raised his dragon head and roared at the sky.
Due to the ground tremors and the destruction from the previous explosion...
The ground beneath his feet had also revealed the semi-transparent energy barrier.
Since this energy barrier was a hexagonal cage trapping him inside, attacking it from the outside would naturally be easier to break it.
As the dragon's roar resonated through the sky, the relatively clear sky rapidly gathered massive dark clouds.
Moments after the clouds appeared, lightning began to flash within them.
Soon, the first bolt of lightning struck down from the clouds.
However, this bolt didn't target the energy shield trapping Luca, but the seemingly inconspicuous ground surrounding the shield.
As the first lightning bolt struck, dirt and bricks on the ground were blasted apart, flying everywhere and falling from the sky.
Immediately after, countless lightning bolts struck down in succession.
In these rainless dark clouds, thunder became the rain.
Well, for the people below, the falling rocks and debris were the real rain.
In the blink of an eye, the piece of ground carrying Luca was shattered by the lightning strikes.
At this point, the shield generators buried underground were finally exposed. They were densely packed with countless miniature Arc Reactors acting as power sources.
Unfortunately, exposing the core power source rendered their quantity meaningless.
As more lightning struck, the glowing blue Arc Reactors exploded and shut down one by one. The semi-transparent barrier trapping Luca finally dissipated rapidly.
Seeing himself free, the coiled dragon stretched its massive body.
"ROAR——"
With a furious roar almost like a wild beast, the pink dragon retracted the flame clouds and soared straight into the sky.
The already shattered inverted cone of earth, losing its support, plummeted towards the ground like a small meteorite.
BOOM————
With a deafening crash, dust and debris filled the air as the ground shook violently.
Luckily, the total volume of this land wasn't too large, and Luca hadn't lifted it too high.
Otherwise, the terrifying impact might have affected a much larger area.
Even so, this small-scale earthquake drew the attention of everyone in the distant refugee camp.
Many people ran out of their homes in panic amidst the tremors.
The first thing they saw was the pink dragon diving rapidly towards the ground after ascending high into the sky.
Outsiders watching the dragon dive into the massive dust cloud rising from the ground might feel awe.
But Luca, diving into the dust with a belly full of rage, found nowhere to vent his anger.
Why? Having just escaped, Luca intended to teach the bastards who surrounded him a lesson. But who would have thought that the impact of the falling earth alone had already killed or incapacitated most of them.
Choking on dust and with a mouthful of sand, Luca could only vent by spewing a few bursts of fire before helplessly reverting to human form.
Looking at the completely destroyed force field generator amidst a pile of Skrull corpses, Luca kicked it twice in frustration.
"Always making stuff that screws over your own people! Just wait till I deal with you later!"
Of course, he said that, but thinking that Tony was likely captured by Skrulls too, he still had to save him.
However, Luca didn't know that he had wronged Tony this time.
This large-scale force field generator was originally developed by Tony after the Hell Gate incident as a precaution against similar events.
Unfortunately, before a second Hell Gate appeared, he was ambushed and captured by Skrulls. This good invention fell into enemy hands and became a weapon against Luca.
Well, at least the research wasn't wasted...
As the dust settled, Luca prepared to look for any surviving Skrulls to interrogate.
Suddenly, a large group of flying objects approached from the distant sky.
Luca looked closely. Leading them was the small Vision with a ring of prayer beads around his neck, followed by the few remaining Aurantius combat robots in the area.
Makes sense. I wasn't out of contact for long, but the home base wouldn't just sit idly by.
Luca carried a bunch of equipment, many of which had communication functions.
Suddenly having his signal cut off by the enemy, Haro at the base wouldn't ignore it.
Vision arrived first only because he was nearby.
If Vision had also lost contact, even if spatial teleportation was blocked nearby, Haro would likely use his authority to have The Spot open portals further away and send an army.
Hmm... so even if I didn't break out violently, Little Vision would have brought a large force to save me soon...
Looking at the mess around him, Luca, realizing the situation, twitched his mouth.
But before the flying Vision could arrive, Gwen's call, which had been cut off due to the signal jammer, rang again.
However, just as Luca prepared to answer the phone, from a pile of debris behind him...
A metal arm with a glowing palm slowly raised, locking onto Luca's back.
