Chapter 166 - Chapter 160 The Dragon Group Lands in Velvet Hills

Dragon Group flapped its wings and set off eastward from the bustling port city of Pentos. Rhaegar's target was the ruined and abandoned town of Gödoho, which had been destroyed by the rhoynar people.

The three-headed dragon flapped its enormous wings, making a tremendous noise, and soared into the sky from Pentos's mansion.

The people of Pentos were both shocked and terrified when they saw the Silver Dragon, the purple Dragon, and the black Dragon disappear into the Pentos sky.

A century later, the Dragon once again appeared on the Eastern Continent. The dance took place in Essos. Even earlier, the Dragonrider who traversed the Eastern Continent was Daemon Targaryen, the magnificent and dangerous ranger prince and Rhaegar's renowned ancestor. At that time, Prince Daemon danced with his wife, Lady Lannar, daughter of the sea serpent Corliss, riding the blood-red dragon Korakshyu and the grey-green dragon Vaghar, as they traveled across the continent of Essos. They once stopped in Pentos, where their twin daughters, Beneira and Rhaenia, were born.

The people of Pentos, seeing Prince Rhaegar and the three-headed dragon soar across the sky, were reminded of the past. A century earlier, they remembered the Daemon couple who had appeared in Pentos. Prince Rhaegar possessed the beauty of a Valyrian Dragonlord, sharp and dangerous as a sword, a seasoned warrior. Lady Lannar, on the other hand, was tall and slender, with waist-length silver-gold wavy hair, charming and lovely, and also possessed the traditional features of an Old Valyrian. They were a illustrious couple, but their promise to grow old together was broken. After the birth of the twins, Prince Rhaegar reconciled with his brother and returned to Westeros with his wife. Lannar later died of puerperal fever, while Prince Rhaegar quickly sought refuge in his niece Rhaenyra, displaying his prowess in the Dance of the Dragons.

Rhaegar rode his three dragons eastward, first flying over the Plains. On this vast land, the dragons roared. Rhaegar could sense their joy; dragons loved to roam the skies until they grew too old and weary of the heavens, too tired to fly.

To the east of Pentos lies a vast plain known as " The Plains," which nurtured the Pentos people. This fertile but poorly protected plain was home to many of Pentos's governors and nobles, who owned extensive orchards, farms, and mines on the Plains. Continuing eastward along the road built by the Valyrians, one crosses a tributary of the upper Rhoyne River, passes through the Velvet Hills into the Andals Mountains, and arrives at Götöh. The road continues to extend, connecting Götöh with two other Free Cities. Norvos and Qohor.

Rhaegar simply needs to head east along Valyrian Road to reach Gödoho.

Rhaegar saw a majestic road, like a dragon, on the vast land, which could not have been created by human hands.

Valyrian Road is a wide, straight stone road that stretches towards the horizon like a spear, originally built to facilitate traffic and the transport of goods. Unlike mud, bricks, or cobblestones, Valyrian Road is an extra-long ribbon of lava, rising half a foot above the ground to allow rainwater and snowmelt to drain away. Valyrian Road is large enough for three carriages to travel side-by-side, unlike the muddy paths commonly referred to as roads in the Seven Kingdoms.

" Valyria is gone, but its legacy remains scattered far and wide. Valyrian Road and the Black Wall are examples of this. However, Valyrian technology is also being lost, most likely created through magic." Rhaegar gazed at the timeless avenue, untouched by damage or vehicle tracks, bearing only animal droppings. The city-state of Valyria had been destroyed centuries ago, yet it left behind a rich legacy. Stone is a monument that outlives everything else; perhaps these roads were forged by fire, and only fire could destroy or forge them.

The Valyrian Road consists of two main routes. One is the one Rhaegar flew through, connecting Pentos, the ruined town of Gordoho, the bearded theocratic city of Norvos, and the black goat city of Qohor. The other route connects Volantis and Meereen; the section east of Volantis is often called the Devil's Road due to its treacherous nature.

Rhaegar flew over Valyrian Road, he was in Pentos Above the Plains, one could see evergreen grass, orchards, and farms scattered like stars, a scene of prosperity. In the wind, Rhaegar could also smell the scent of grass and flowers, and the sweet aroma of ripe fruit.

"What a rich land!" Rhaegar thought. Pentos not only boasted a port but also the fertile lands of the Plains and numerous vassal farms. However, Pentos had been forcibly stripped of its military by Braavos, leaving it a weak and powerless once prosperous town. If the Westeros were to land, Pentos would be a better option.

Upon seeing Dragon's figure, Pentos The farmers and miners of the Plains were filled with unease. They had just rid themselves of the dothraki plague god, and now dragons had appeared in the sky. High in the heavens, they could even see the images of three ferocious dragons. The Dragon King was an even more terrifying being than the Khal, but his civilization was far more advanced; at least he wouldn't burn or plunder.

Rhaegar discovered that The Plains had orchards, farms, and mines, but no towns. Towns could only appear within the walls of Pentos. The Khals disliked towns and would destroy them. The Plains were frequently ravaged by the Khals, and this was the only way to cross the ocean. The Khals would occasionally come to see the sea.

" Pentos is arguably the city with the strongest ties to Westeros! Located between Pentos and Braavos is the homeland of the Andals, situated south of the Braavos coast, east of the Narrow Sea, and west of the Norvos Hills. After leaving their homeland, the Andals brought the Seven Stars faith to Westeros, and their invasion changed the history of Westeros. East of Pentos, you can see the Rhoyne River, the homeland of the Rhoynar people, many of whom eventually reached Dorne." Rhaegar thought, looking at the picturesque landscape, "The migration of people determines history. If Westeros wants to establish a foothold, the only suitable place might be the Andals or along the Rhoyne River."

Rhaegar first arrived at the lush green Velvet Hills. The mountains were not very high, and the hills had a gentle slope and looked unremarkable. This was the southern frontier of the ancient Andals kingdom.

The Dragon Group landed on Velvet Hills. Rhaegar saw towering stone formations, said to be the work of giants. Rhaegar also saw a deep lake, said to be inhabited by bandits who would kill fishermen.

"So much Valyrian steel?" Rhaegar's eyes widened. He saw the Dragon Queen. Rhaegar saw a colossal Sphinx cast in Valyrian steel standing by the roadside, the statue having the body of a dragon and the face of a woman. Rhaegar saw a stone pedestal beside it; there was another Sphinx statue, the Dragon Queen's king, now covered only with moss, vines, and flowers. Rhaegar heard that the Khals had attached huge wooden wheels and pulled the other king's statue all the way back to Vera dothraki. Because the Khals were traditionally male-dominated, perhaps they considered the Dragon Queen's statue unlucky and left it where it was.

"The treasure is unclaimed, so why don't I just take it? It's better to have it for myself than let the Khals profit from it!" Rhaegar thought. The Sphinx statue standing there would inevitably attract the attention of many bandits, but taking it out would require a huge amount of manpower. Such a sculpture was indeed too enormous to fit into the Dragon King's Ring. The only option was to rely on manpower, using a horse team and wooden wheels to pull it away.

Rhaegar lingered on the verdant hills, with Dragon quietly staying by his side.

"Guys, it's time to eat!" Rhaegar waved his hand, and three butchered cows appeared on the ground.

The dragons cheered and breathed fire, thoroughly roasting the beef before they began to eat.

Rhaegar ate a cold capon, carrots, raisins, and corn kernels, followed by some lemon and orange dessert. The world was still very rich in resources; the poor were crying out in hunger, while the wealthy enjoyed abundant material reserves.

"Alright! Let's eat something first, then we'll see if there's any other food when we get to the abandoned town."

Rhoyne River has changed beyond recognition. G. Doho, located on the banks of the Little Rhoyne River in Velvet Hills, is situated in Essos. The Plains are to the north, and the Pentos to the east. That beautiful town was destroyed many years ago.
