Tsunade stopped Yuki Seisui and Uchiha Haru as they were about to leave.
Minato looked at her in confusion, then glanced at Seisui and Haru, but said nothing. He left with Konan and Yahiko.
Once the others had gone, Tsunade tossed the medicine at Jiraiya.
"Apply it yourself!" she commanded.
"I'm a patient right now!" Jiraiya shouted in protest.
"Hm?" Tsunade glanced at him sideways. Immediately, Jiraiya's bravado melted, and he obediently began applying the medicine himself.
Turning her attention to Seisui adjusting his glasses, Tsunade asked seriously, "What's wrong with your eyes?"
"What's wrong with my glasses?" Jiraiya replied nonchalantly while applying his medicine.
"Maybe the kid just wants a new look."
Tsunade merely gave him a calm look, without showing any irritation.
Over the past few days, word about Seisui's Mangekyo Sharingan had spread through Konoha's higher-ups. Tsunade, of course, was aware.
Most clans with a long lineage understood the drawbacks of the Mangekyo Sharingan. Jiraiya, though considered high-ranking in Konoha, was from a commoner background. He knew of the Mangekyo, but not in depth.
So seeing Seisui wearing glasses, he simply thought the kid was trying a new style.
Tsunade, however, was different.
Though the Senju clan had long abandoned the surname and effectively disbanded, she was still the granddaughter of the First Hokage—the princess of the Senju clan, Tsunade of the Land of Fire.
While the Uzumaki clan controlled the Senju wealth, she still had access to all the clan's archives and jutsu.
The Uchiha had been the Senju's rivals since the Warring States period, and the Senju had thoroughly documented the Sharingan. Many Uchiha themselves didn't even understand it as well as she did.
She was fully aware that the Mangekyo Sharingan gradually worsens the user's eyesight. Her late grandfather had explained to her: the Uchiha are a clan of love, and that love comes with a cost.
Activating the Mangekyo meant reaching an extreme, gaining immense power—but the price was the eyes.
Overusing the Mangekyo could even lead to blindness.
Now, Seisui had achieved tremendous victories—he had even killed the Third Kazekage—and yet he wore glasses. Naturally, Tsunade was concerned.
Though she and Seisui had no personal relationship, he was someone her grandmother had trusted—and now the head of the Uzumaki clan. If anything happened to him, the loss would be enormous.
Hearing her concern, Seisui immediately understood what she was thinking. Adjusting his glasses, he smiled and said, "My eyes are fine."
"If they're fine, why wear glasses?" Tsunade frowned, unconvinced.
"Wait… what are you two talking about?" Jiraiya asked, completely confused.
Seeing neither Tsunade nor Seisui explaining, he turned to Uchiha Haru.
Feeling his gaze, Haru explained, "The Mangekyo Sharingan grants incredible power, but each use slowly diminishes the user's vision."
"Every time it's used, sight deteriorates a bit."
Jiraiya, hearing this plain explanation, finally understood why Tsunade had asked them to stay.
"Your vision must be weak now," he said seriously.
"No, my eyesight is fine," Seisui replied.
"Really?" Jiraiya questioned.
"Really," Seisui said with a helpless shake of his head. "At first, my vision declined, but over time, my eye power and sight have gradually recovered. I should be back to normal in about two weeks."
Hearing this, Tsunade crossed her arms, squeezing the large rabbit plush in front of her until it deformed.
"Isn't it impossible to restore vision with the Mangekyo?"
"It is possible," Seisui said before Haru could answer. Haru explained: "As long as his eye power isn't fully depleted, the Mangekyo gradually restores itself. Seisui's Uzumaki blood resonates with it, accelerating his recovery by dozens of times."
"At first, he couldn't even see me clearly from ten meters away. Now it's fifty meters."
Jiraiya breathed a sigh of relief. He trusted Haru—if she were lying, there would be a flaw, but her expression and movements were entirely natural.
Tsunade, however, wasn't fully convinced.
"I'll check your eyes," Tsunade said, standing. "Come with me, Haru."
"You both have Mangekyo Sharingan; I'll test your vision."
"Sure," Seisui said casually.
Testing their vision posed no problems. Seisui and Haru exchanged a glance and followed Tsunade out.
Jiraiya sat on the bed, pondering with the door closed. He realized for the first time that the Mangekyo had side effects—but he wasn't worried about Seisui's eyes. If it were truly serious, the kid would have complained by now.
Using eyesight to confuse other villages… clever, Seisui!
Jiraiya recalled Seisui's theory of a unified ninja world and immediately understood why he wore glasses.
Seems things won't be peaceful anytime soon, Jiraiya muttered, a trace of unease in his heart.
War meant death—yet only bloodshed could teach future generations to avoid it.
He was a native of Konoha, always pursuing the prophesied child and the path to peace. Seisui was that child.
Guide the reformer, and the ninja world's future depends on it.
As he thought this, Jiraiya felt a sudden summon from Mount Myoboku, snapping his focus back.
Frowning, he formed hand signs. A small toad appeared on his bed.
"I'm resting and healing. Tell the two sages I'll come later," he said.
The small toad nodded and disappeared in a puff of white smoke.
Ding ding ding!
After the toad left, Jiraiya rang the bedside bell repeatedly. Soon, a nurse entered, bowing respectfully.
"Jiraiya-sama, may I help you?"
"Tell Tsunade I'm heading to Mount Myoboku. I might be gone for a while."
The nurse nodded. "Understood. I'll inform Tsunade-sama."
Satisfied, Jiraiya endured the pain in his upper body, picked up a cane, and prepared to leave.
His injuries: the upper body was Tsunade's primary target, the lower body had a broken leg—but he could still move with the cane.
Though badly wounded, Tsunade hadn't gone overboard—there were no internal injuries.
Grimacing through the pain, Jiraiya tucked the cane under his arm and formed hand signs.
In an instant, he vanished.
After Jiraiya disappeared, the nurse left to report to Tsunade.
Jiraiya appeared at Mount Myoboku via reverse summoning. Shima and Fukasaku were shocked, staring at him in disbelief.
"Did you face a powerful enemy?"
"Why didn't you summon us over?!"
