Chapter 137 - The Morality of Power

Orochimaru's Inquiry

"The study of the Adamantine Sealing Chains only requires you to master a few special sealing runes, then channel a large amount of chakra into them."

"That's all it takes to use it."

Uzumaki Mito said this as she glanced at Yuki Seisui.

For members of the Uzumaki clan, vast chakra reserves were a given.

Over the next few days, Mito patiently guided the group in learning the Adamantine Sealing Chains.

Watching the young ones training in the courtyard, she smiled gently and touched her abdomen.

"Stay calm, Kurama."

"Damn Uzumaki clan!" roared the Nine-Tails from within the seal.

Mito ignored its furious voice and instead turned her gaze back to Seisui, her thoughts unreadable.

Behind him, two golden chakra chains slowly emerged, swaying like living light.

This marked the first step into mastering the technique.

"Seisui, you're amazing!" Kushina exclaimed, eyes wide with envy as she saw the radiant chains behind him.

Behind her, one much smaller golden chain flickered weakly.

Nagato and Mina each had one as well, their size about the same as Kushina's.

Seeing their envious looks, Seisui clasped his hands behind his back, turned forty-five degrees toward the sky, and said coolly, "As your clan leader, being stronger than you is only natural, isn't it?"

"Run!"

Before anyone could react, Minato appeared beside Kushina and quickly dragged her away.

Seisui could faintly hear Minato's warning.

"Kushina, the next time you see him act like this, run immediately."

"Every time Seisui strikes that pose, he's about to start showing off."

"Really?" Kushina looked back curiously. "But Seisui doesn't seem like that kind of person…"

Minato shook his head solemnly. "You don't understand Seisui. He's… complicated. Very abstract. If you see that face again—just leave."

He turned back to Seisui and flashed a sunny grin.

Seisui: "…"

You think smiling at me will save you?

Minato… you've chosen the path of death.

He fumed silently, his face darkening.

Seeing his shifting expression, Nagato hesitated, then asked softly, "Brother Seisui, do you think Sister Haru can teach me how to use these eyes?"

"Hm?" Seisui blinked, then looked at the boy pointing to his Rinnegan.

"Probably not," Seisui said, rubbing his chin.

Madara's Rinnegan might have evolved from the Sharingan, but by now, the two were essentially different eyes with completely different powers.

The Rinnegan's abilities were vast and terrifying — far beyond what the Sharingan could reach.

For instance, Haru's Mangekyo granted her control over gravity and repulsion, but for Nagato, that was just the basic function of his Rinnegan.

He could also summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path… create the Six Paths of Pain, each with its own unique power.

The Deva Path wielded attraction and repulsion.

The Animal Path summoned beasts and corpses, all linked by shared vision.

The Preta Path absorbed chakra — even that of tailed beasts.

The Human Path could rip out souls.

The Naraka Path repaired bodies and summoned spirits for interrogation.

The Ghost Path manifested mechanical limbs and fired deadly lasers.

And finally, the Outer Path — it connected directly to the Ten Tails, revived the dead, and created chakra rods to bind or channel chakra.

That was the broken might of the Rinnegan.

Just the Deva Path alone could flatten Konoha with Shinra Tensei, Bansho Ten'in, and Chibaku Tensei — each one a world-shaking technique.

So when Nagato asked if Haru could teach him to use it, Konoha's resident five-star critic, Yuki Seisui, gave his expert opinion:

"Nagato, your eyes are the Rinnegan of Six Paths. Haru's eyes are just Sharingan. They're not the same."

Nagato looked a little disappointed, but Seisui continued, "However, you can learn to master your own powers. Your strength isn't inherently dangerous. What matters is your determination to control it."

He smiled warmly and placed a hand on Nagato's head.

Nagato stared up at him, then clenched his fists and nodded hard.

"I'll definitely master this power! I won't let you down, Brother Seisui!"

"Good!" Seisui laughed. "I believe you'll do it!"

He knew Nagato feared his own strength — the uncontrollable surges of power that had hurt those around him.

"Power itself has no right or wrong," Seisui said softly.

He turned to look at Nagato.

"Nagato, tell me — are ninjutsu techniques only for killing?"

Nagato froze, frowning. In his mind, ninjutsu had always been for battle — to kill, to spy, to support killing. Nothing more.

Seeing his hesitation, Seisui sighed, then glanced toward Mina, who was waiting eagerly for his explanation.

"Mina, go bring back Minato and Kushina. I'll explain this to everyone at once."

She nodded excitedly and dashed off.

Since they're my students, they should understand from the start — ninjutsu isn't just for killing.

Productivity determines happiness.

In his past life, people always complained about this or that online — but that was just because they were too comfortable. It was greed born of abundance.

Still, even so, their happiness was far greater than those who starved.

Once productivity rises, happiness follows.

Soon, Mina returned with Minato and Kushina.

Mito was also seated nearby, the sliding door beside her half-open. She wasn't far from them — close enough to hear everything.

Watching with interest, she wondered what Seisui would say next.

Once everyone was gathered, Seisui looked back at Nagato.

"So? Still can't think of anything?"

Nagato shook his head. "Sorry, Brother Seisui. I can't imagine what else ninjutsu could be used for."

All his life, ninjutsu had meant violence.

Seisui chuckled softly and patted his head again.

"You all know about chakra control and nature transformation, right?" he asked, glancing at the group.

Minato sat down cross-legged and nodded. "Of course. Chakra control determines how efficiently you use chakra. Nature transformation enhances power or modifies a jutsu's properties."

"For example, the Rasengan — by adding different nature transformations, its effects can completely change."

Seisui nodded approvingly and gave him a thumbs-up.

"Exactly. Since ninjutsu can be controlled… why must it be used only to kill?"

He pointed to the ground beneath them.

"Farming is hard work, isn't it?"

"Can't Earth Style be used to plow fields?"

"Can't Water Style be used for irrigation?"

"Can't Fire Style burn weeds?"

"Can't Lightning Style generate power?"

"Can't Wind Style harvest crops?"

When he reached "Wind Style," Seisui paused, then formed hand seals.

"Wind Style: Vacuum Wave!"

A sharp, thin line of air shot from his mouth — slicing the soil cleanly as it passed, leaving behind a narrow trench.

He smiled and looked at them.

"See? This jutsu is simple, but you could use it to harvest rice. Much faster than by hand."

"If you choose to, ninjutsu can change everyday life — for the better."

"That's what I mean when I say power itself has no morality. Only the user does."

"For example — that same Wind Style: Vacuum Wave."

"If one person uses it to kill, and another uses it to harvest… is the jutsu itself right or wrong?"

His words made everyone's eyes light up in understanding.

Especially Nagato — his gaze toward Seisui was full of admiration.

"Brother Seisui, you're right! Power itself isn't wrong. If I hurt people because I can't control it, that's my fault!"

"I'll learn to use it — properly!"

Seisui laughed heartily. "That's the spirit! Master your strength well. When I become Hokage, you'll be able to help me!"

"Yeah!" Nagato nodded eagerly.

Watching their exchange, Minato fell into thought. His gaze toward Seisui changed — filled with respect, but also challenge.

Seisui… so this is your philosophy?

It's better than mine, I'll admit that.

Then he felt a hand slip into his.

Kushina smiled at him, eyes twinkling. "Minato, I'll always be by your side."

"Yeah." Minato nodded, then looked back at Seisui, his eyes burning with determination.

I won't lose to you, Seisui!
