Chapter 51 -  The Place She Once Belonged

I did not realize how much my life had changed until I stood in front of Milan Entertainment again.

The building looked exactly the same.

The revolving glass doors still reflected the crowded street outside. The silver company logo still stretched proudly across the front wall. Employees still walked in and out carrying folders and coffee cups while trainees gathered near the side entrance pretending not to stare at people more successful than them.

Everything looked familiar.

Yet somehow, standing there again felt strange enough to make my chest tighten slightly.

Maybe because this place once represented everything I wanted.

Or maybe because it also represented every moment I had been reminded that I was not enough.

"You're staring at the building like it personally offended you," Liora said beside me as she adjusted the strap of her bag.

I let out a quiet breath before looking away from the entrance.

"I'm thinking."

"That's usually dangerous."
