Half an hour later, an ambulance arrived in Evergreen Garden and stopped in front of Claire Sinclair's house.
A paramedic hurried out of the ambulance, pushing a gurney. He was about to knock on the door when the two guards outside stopped him. "Who sent you?"
"We received an emergency call. Someone here had a seizure and collapsed. Please, let us through!"
The guards hesitated.
The paramedic snapped, "If something happens to the person inside, can you handle the consequences?"
That threat was all it took. The guards, now frightened, quickly stood aside.
The doorbell rang. Helen Wallace answered it, and the paramedic walked inside. She intentionally left the door open.
The two guards seized the opportunity to peek inside. All they could see was a pair of feet next to the sofa; they couldn't make out who was lying on the floor. The paramedic carefully lifted her onto the gurney.
