After a pause, Adrian Quincy added, "Yara is doing all this simply to get you, Grandpa, to plead on her behalf. She wants to avoid a ten-year prison sentence, and she's not afraid to repeatedly tarnish Claire's reputation to do so."
Old Master Quincy's breathing grew ragged. "That wretched girl! When did she develop such a wicked heart!"
Adrian Quincy said, "Grandpa, you raised me yourself. Please trust my judgment. The woman I've chosen isn't as bad as you think."
Old Master Quincy took a soft breath, his tone softening. "The young lady and I just had a talk. At first, she seemed to lack confidence and her position wasn't very clear. But the more she spoke, the more assertive she became. I do trust your judgment, of course. You two should have a second child soon... It's just a shame your grandfather won't be here to see it."
"Grandpa, Claire and I have been trying," Adrian Quincy emphasized.
