Adrian Quincy's cold gaze swept over her as he said in a deep voice, "Didn't you see your sister-in-law standing here?"
Yara Quincy instinctively glanced at Claire Sinclair, who wore an innocent expression. Though reluctant, she didn't want to anger her brother, so she obediently called out, "Sister-in-law."
Claire Sinclair nodded but said nothing, not wanting to make the situation any more awkward.
Adrian Quincy walked to Claire Sinclair's side, took her hand, and led her into the building, leaving his sister with nothing but his cold, distant back. "Grandpa isn't well, so there's no need for a birthday banquet. I'll take Claire to see him when I have time."
"But, big brother, Mom already told all our relatives we're having one," Yara Quincy said, hurrying after them. "If you do this, she'll be upset, and so will Dad."
Adrian Quincy stopped and glanced back slightly. "That's fine. I'll just bring Claire home that day."
"Brother…" Yara Quincy was utterly speechless.
