Madcap was even more surprised. Clayton Xavier's grandmother had to be over sixty, at least. In the old days, women rarely showed their faces in public; they usually stayed home to support their husbands and raise their children. Plus, he'd heard Clayton's family were landlords. A rural landlord would be even less likely to let the women of the family go out and see patients.
It seemed Clayton Xavier's grandmother was no ordinary woman. Madcap's curiosity was piqued.
"Does your family run an apothecary?"
"We used to have apothecaries in both Vessaria and Oakfell," Clayton Xavier answered truthfully.
A thought suddenly struck Madcap. "What is Anton Xavier to you?"
"He's my grandfather."
