Raina's mind began to spin. In the past, Goldie Thorne had been a good-for-nothing. He had no proper job, shirked his work duties, and idled his days away. No decent girl would look twice at him, so his selection of potential brides was minuscule.
But things were different now. Good girls were practically lining up at their door. Raina was naturally pleased with herself, and her mind started scheming.
"Goldie, come over and take your pick. See anyone you like?"
One day, Raina laid a stack of photos out on the table for Goldie Thorne to look through himself. There were a good fifteen or sixteen of them. Goldie asked, confused, "I thought you already settled on someone? Why are there so many more?"
"Never mind that one for now. Hurry up and look at these girls. Which one do you fancy?"
