A cold gust of wind blew over, snapping Phoenix Golding back to her senses. She stumbled back a few steps, overcome with lingering fear.
'I can't die.'
'What would my son do if I died? I have to live. I have to get my revenge and clear my name.'
Phoenix Golding clenched her jaw. Her body was covered in blood, a few wilted vegetable leaves were stuck to her hair, and she reeked of rotting fish and shrimp. She was a complete mess, but her mind was clearer than it had ever been.
'I must have my revenge!'
'The Thorne family… just you wait!'
Phoenix Golding picked up her pace. She had to get home quickly and talk to her Third Uncle Golding about this. Of course, she couldn't say she was having an affair. She would just say the Thorne family had framed her, that she'd been caught off guard and fallen into their trap. The job was gone, and that was that, but she couldn't lose the backing of the Golding family. Without it, she truly wouldn't be able to survive away from Millstone Peak.
