Annabelle Linton stared at him with wide eyes, her mouth hanging open, unsure of what to say. She just kept looking at him.
But as she looked at his face, still as strikingly handsome as ever, her eyes couldn't help but sting with unshed tears.
Hurt, longing, and helplessness all converged, forming a mist in her eyes. Annabelle Linton threw her arms around his neck and burst into tears.
'I've been crying my eyes out all day recently. My eyes ache every time I start again.'
Annabelle Linton didn't say a word. She just held him and cried, her sobs muffled against him.
Leona Grant gently held her, stroking her hair with his other hand. As he looked down at her crying, he grew even more certain of his decision to tell her everything.
He held her and said gently, "I'm sorry, darling. Have things been really hard on you lately?"
He gave her a light kiss, stroking her head and saying tenderly, "It's okay. It's all in the past now. I'm still here, aren't I?"
