The old man looked at him, laughing heartily yet helplessly. "You two... what is anyone supposed to say?"
He sighed and looked at Leona Grant, asking coolly, "Is there really no reason for you to go?"
Leona Grant nodded.
Patrick Grant walked over, stroked his hair, and said kindly, "Then Grandpa will find a reason for you."
Leona Grant looked up at him.
Patrick Grant exhaled. A glint flashed in his eyes as he spoke, his mind seemingly made up. "Do you know why Grandpa has always been so insistent on you two having a child?"
Leona Grant looked at his grandfather, confused. "I don't know."
'Anyway, ever since the first day he and Annabelle Linton were married, his grandfather had never stopped talking about having a child.'
'At first, he'd found it annoying, but later he came to regret it.'
'If he had listened to his grandfather, if he and Annabelle Linton had a child now, maybe he could still use the child to keep her from leaving.'
'Now, he didn't have a single reason.'
