Annabelle Linton was forced to a halt.
Leona Grant stood before her, furious, glaring at her as he roared, enunciating every word, "Annabelle Linton, don't you dare tell me you weren't serious about remarrying. I forbid it! I absolutely forbid it! Do you understand me?!"
Passersby on the street had already noticed them. Many turned to look, and some even stopped in their tracks, waiting for the drama to unfold.
Annabelle glanced around at the onlookers, then looked down and sighed.
'I knew he would make a scene.'
'I knew it. The moment this man shows up, he can't rest until he's caused some kind of trouble!'
'Honestly, I really hate this about him.'
'He does whatever he wants, with no regard for anyone else's feelings.'
Annabelle had always been a private person who disliked being conspicuous. People like her hated being the center of attention, the subject of gossip and scrutiny.
