They were the only two people on this island. Working together was the only way for both of them to benefit.
Leona listened to Annabelle's analysis, admiring her from the bottom of his heart.
"Your analysis is spot on, but what if there are beasts in the forest?"
It was a definite possibility in such a wild and desolate place.
Annabelle's cool gaze swept over the woods as she stated calmly, "But we don't have a choice right now. Crossing it might give us a sliver of hope. If we stay here, we're just waiting to die."
Annabelle was right.
They were stranded on an unknown island where no one would find them. The island had no fresh water, and the only thing they'd drunk so far was dew that Annabelle had collected. There was no hope in staying put.
Leona's admiration for Annabelle grew even more. He hadn't expected this woman to be so decisive and observant.
He looked at Annabelle, a sense of pride involuntarily swelling in his chest.
