Seeing her daughter crying so heartbrokenly, Lara Nash's heart ached. She tried to lift a hand to wipe away her tears but found she was weightless, without a shred of strength. Her raised hand fell limply back onto the bed. This frail sight sent Cheryl Nash into another fit of terrified sobs. Crying, she scrambled off the bed to grab her mother's phone. "Mommy, you wait! I'm gonna call Daddy and have him take you to the hospital...!"
"Don't..."
She tried with all her might to sit up and stop her but found she had no strength at all. Her head was spinning. She had no choice but to fall back onto the bed. Then, she heard Cheryl had already dialed Ronan Joyce's number. "Daddy, come quick! Mommy has a fever! Cheryl is so scared..."
Cheryl had been calling Ronan Joyce a lot lately, so the little girl already had his number memorized. After hanging up, Cheryl climbed back onto the bed, snuggled up to her mother, and comforted her. "Don't be scared, Mommy. Daddy said he'll be here soon!"
