Before Julian Donovan could say what he was planning, the doorbell rang. It was probably Jean Coleman bringing Joy over. He glanced at Naomi, then turned to open the door. 'It's probably for the best not to tell her now,' he thought. 'It'll be a surprise.'
Sure enough, it was Jean Coleman and Joy at the door. He reached out and scooped the little girl into his arms. Joy, wearing a fluffy hat, leaned in and pressed her soft lips against his cheek, calling out softly, "Daddy..."
It had only been a day, but he had missed the little girl terribly. Now, hearing her call to him so softly, his heart was so full he wished he could just squeeze her tiny body into his. He hugged her and planted a kiss on her rosy little cheek.
Jean Coleman laughed at him. "Look at you, so completely smitten. It's only been a day and you've missed her this much!"
He paid her no mind, simply hugging his precious daughter as he walked back inside.
