Tristan Grayson said helplessly, "What on earth did my dad do to upset you this time?" 'They've been married for ages, and they're still threatening divorce. Can't they behave, even in the middle of the night?'
"Tristan, if you're a good son, you'll come pick me up. Right now." With that, Mae Lynch hung up the phone.
Tristan Grayson stared at the phone in his hand, utterly bewildered.
"Are your parents fighting again?" Mika Summers asked, sitting up when she saw the troubled look on Tristan's face.
At her words, Tristan pulled Mika into his arms and kissed her cheek. "Yeah. You get some rest. I'm going to go back and check on things."
"I'll go back with you."
"You should stay here. The kids are at home."
"Okay, then. Drive safely, and don't rush."
Mika's words warmed Tristan's heart. A roguish grin touched his lips as he murmured, "When I get back... we'll continue this!"
