Ruby Walsh was a new student in this year's class. She had wanted to participate in the military training just like a normal student, but Sheldon Caldwell's regimen was too intense. Her body simply couldn't handle it. She tried to tough it out at first, but by the end of the first day, she went into cardiac arrest.
Vera Xavier used her X-ray vision to take a close look at her heart. The problem was indeed serious. Currently, neither medication nor surgery available in the country could make much of a difference for a condition like hers.
Based on Vera Xavier's experience, it was very difficult for someone with a heart condition like Ruby Walsh's to live past the age of twenty-five.
Vera Xavier thought for a moment before saying, "That's not necessarily true. Medical technology is so advanced these days. Maybe in a year or two, they'll find a way to treat your condition."
Ruby Walsh gave her a smile. "Let's hope so!"
