"No, perhaps we met sometime when you returned to Crestfall," Vera Xavier said with a smile.
A faint note of helplessness had crept into her tone.
Winter Sullivan sighed. "I haven't been back since I gave birth to Susan in Crestfall eighteen years ago. You probably hadn't even been born yet, had you?"
She wasn't the type to warm up to people easily. Almost no one had ever made her feel an instant sense of kinship, but every time she saw Vera Xavier, that's exactly what she felt.
Vera Xavier hadn't expected her to have stayed away from Crestfall for so many years. A little surprised, she smiled again. "I was born on April 20th. As long as you were still in Crestfall after that date, it's possible we might have met."
"You were born on April 20th, too?" Winter Sullivan asked, her curiosity piqued. "That's the very day I gave birth to Susan at Crestfall's First Municipal Hospital."
