The moment the students and drill instructors left, Vera Xavier watched as Sheldon Caldwell deflated like a popped balloon. His once-imposing presence vanished in an instant, leaving him looking like a total wimp.
He asked grumpily, "What are you doing here?"
"To beat you up," Nathaniel Nathan answered crisply, his voice ice-cold.
Sheldon Caldwell pursed his lips. "Don't think I'm scared of you. I'm telling you, Nathaniel Nathan, I'm a force to be reckoned with! But for Vera's sake today—and because I pity you, not even being able to see your girl when she's right here—I'll let you off the hook. So don't get too cocky!"
With that, he stormed off in a huff.
The corner of Vera Xavier's mouth twitched as she watched him go. 'I really thought he would at least stand up to Nathaniel, maybe even start a fight. I never expected him to be such a wimp and just walk off. Looks like Nathaniel has beaten him so many times he's practically traumatized.'
