Vera Xavier pouted slightly and said, "If you come out of my room like that, I'll be too embarrassed to face anyone ever again!"
When Nathaniel Nathan heard Vera Xavier's words, he chuckled softly. She glared at him. He looked at her, braced his hand against the wall behind her, and said pointedly, "So, the only reason you've been so well-behaved this morning is that you thought I came straight out of your room?"
Vera Xavier froze for a second before asking a foolish question. "You mean you didn't?"
The smile on Nathaniel Nathan's lips widened. "That's a pretty good idea. I'll have to try it next time. It might have some unexpected results."
It finally dawned on Vera Xavier. She glanced at the clock on the wall—it was already past ten. Then, she noticed a pile of gifts in the corner and instantly understood. He had walked right in through the front door.
