Vera Xavier replied calmly, "All the brightly colored, beautiful mushrooms in the world are poisonous. They look pretty, but they're rotten to the core. Any creature that touches one is doomed."
Aaron Cheney clapped for her. "What a vivid description, Vera!"
Skylar Crowe was about to start cursing, but Susan Caldwell stopped her with a gentle smile. "Skylar, there's no need to get into a war of words with her. Don't lower yourself to her level. Besides, running her mouth is all she can do."
Skylar Crowe snorted and shot Vera Xavier a cold glare.
Vera Xavier merely offered a faint smile. 'I know Susan Caldwell quite well. The Susan of this era is less formidable than the one from my past life, but she's still perfected the art of putting on a false front.'
