Vera Xavier was a little surprised. 'Is it "Make a Friend Day" or something? Why does everyone, one after another, want to be my friend?'
She studied Alistair Forrest for a moment. His features were exquisite, prettier even than the average girl's. The look in his eyes wasn't cold and detached like Nathaniel Nathan's; instead, it held a certain devil-may-care laziness. But the sharp glint that occasionally flashed in their depths was enough to prove he was nowhere near as harmless as he appeared.
Instead of answering, she countered with a question of her own. "Thanks for speaking up for me, but did you enjoy watching the show from the sidelines?"
"I had a great time." Alistair Forrest's smile deepened, revealing dimples that made him look rather cute. "You've got great skills and quite a temper. It's fascinating. I'm impressed. Why don't you be my girlfriend?"
