Zachary Redgrave asked in a low voice.
"He was called in for surgery in the middle of the night yesterday. He just fell asleep."
"Oh, I see. Have you eaten?"
Laura Lowell nodded. "I have."
Ever since yesterday, Marian Miller had been bringing Laura Lowell three meals a day, right on schedule, and she cooked them all herself.
Yvonne Sloan's gaze kept drifting subtly toward Aiden Shaw. The man lay on his side, and even in sleep, his chiseled features were as perfect as an Upper God from an ancient, poetic scroll.
Yvonne Sloan placed the fruit she was carrying on the coffee table. She smiled innocently and said, "LoriaLaura, would you like some fruit?"
"No, thanks. I just finished eating, so I'm really full."
"Oh, all right then."
With that, Yvonne Sloan walked over to Aiden Shaw's bed. With a very natural movement, she gently adjusted the blanket covering him. "Being a doctor is pretty tough, isn't it, Shaw?"
