The surroundings were deathly still.
There was no trace of life.
It was as if this was a forbidden zone for life, the end of all things.
"This is the place."
Mage Delin slowly dismounted from the back of the Ice Wind Demon Serpent, his boots making a faint, crisp sound on the slick ice.
His gaze swept across the glacier, which hadn't melted in ten thousand years, finally settling on the very center of the summit.
In the center of that mirror-smooth ice, an unusual sight abruptly entered their vision.
It was a lake.
A lake several kilometers in diameter.
Bizarrely, at the peak of the world, where temperatures were so low it felt as if the very air might freeze, the lake remained unfrozen.
The lake water was a deep azure. Under the cold Moonlight, it shimmered and rippled with a mysterious luster.
The lake's edge joined perfectly with the eternally frozen glacier, yet the two remained distinctly separate.
