"So, are you still not going to tell me the truth?" Aurora Sterling asked gravely. Even though she'd said that to Sylvia, she knew the police weren't fools. This supposed theft case was clearly full of holes. If they dug too deep, it would likely be ruled a misunderstanding and the matter would be dropped.
Aurora Sterling wasn't one to meddle in other people's business, but this time, she felt an uncharacteristic urge to help Sylvia Vaughn. She knew the helplessness of having to bear everything alone.
