Timothy Sterling stood in the hallway. There wasn't a sound from inside the room. Just as he was about to lose hope, the door opened.
Seeing his daughter's face, a whirlwind of emotions flooded Timothy Sterling. "My... my..."
The girl looked at him with indifference and let go of the doorknob. "Come in."
With that, she turned and walked back into the room without giving Timothy Sterling, still standing outside the door, a second glance.
Timothy Sterling let out a faint sigh, followed her into the room, and closed the door.
"What did you want to talk about?" The girl was seated primly on the bay window, her legs crossed and hands resting on her knees, her face a mask of detachment.
Timothy Sterling looked at his daughter's all-business attitude. 'This doesn't feel like a father-daughter heart-to-heart,' he thought. 'It's more like a tense business negotiation. And it's obvious I'm the subordinate party, while she's the badass client calling all the shots.'
