The weather had been truly unstable lately. The erratic shifts between sunny and overcast days, combined with the hot, humid air, had caused a massive outbreak of a viral flu.
At Aurora Sterling's school, quite a few students had already fallen victim. To avoid disrupting their final month of review, the students insisted on attending class while wearing masks. To prevent the virus from spreading, the school also began implementing some largely ineffective disinfection procedures. However, even with these measures, they couldn't stop the aggressive flu, and more students continued to get sick.
Although the flu wasn't a major illness, catching it still affected one's energy and concentration.
Sharon Sterling's deskmate, Fiona King, hadn't managed to escape it either and had come down with the flu. She clutched a tissue in her hand, constantly wiping her runny nose.
